It will be very interesting to see where this goes…the evidence from that phone call alone really should lead to something. What that is depends on GA law, but at the very least this will hopefully help to hold back the push for election interference by Republicans…if there are real prosecutions and punishment at least some of them might take a step back. And, if Trump really gets nailed for election interference, at least some Republicans will rejoice to have him gone.

There we go.

I wish her well. It’s not easy investigating an organized crime family like the gop but it needs to be done. Perhaps a security detail should be provided for DA Willis.

Great decision, by why wait until May ? DA Fani Willis had enough evidence pulled together to get the Grand Jury started next week. In fact, Retired US Attorney Moore said on Lawrence O’Donnell’s program that, based on the GA SoS phone tape, she has enough to induct Trump today.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what comes next.

First up…

…Raffy Raffensberger.

You think you can be in on a criminal phone call, and not have to testify???

Trump (in call to jury foreman): “Look – all I’m asking is that you ‘find’ 12 votes to acquit.”

And if you get in trouble for it, I’ll ok someone paying for your defense. That is as long as you keep your mouth shut.

IANAL, but I doubt she would call a special grand jury if she didn’t think she had the receipts.

I would love to see TFG convicted by a black woman!!!

Perhaps the DA could also look into some folks who submitted an alternafraud set of electoral votes, in four copies, sent to the president of the senate, the national archives, the Georgia secretary of state, and the chief judge of the US Northern District of Georgia. The folks who signed the Georgia alternafraud certification are here: Recognize any names?

Why can’t they indict like other grand juries?

Disappointing that this grand jury doesn’t gear up till May.

Can anyone explain the significance of this being a “special grand jury”? How does a special grand jury differ from a regular grand jury?

This answers the “what” it is (and why it takes 'til May), but not the “why” it isn’t one with regular powers to indict.

Well, Trump is a special kind of guy.

Just ask him.

ETA: And I agree. What’s with the May start date? What’s wrong with February?

Because this grand jury is (will be) empanelled for the purpose of being gatekeeper on subpoenae. I guess that’s how they do things in Georgia.
