Georgia AG Steps Down From GOP Group That Promoted Pre-Insurrection Rally | Talking Points Memo

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr (R) resigned from his position as chair of the Republican Attorneys General Association, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported Thursday, as the organization has faced scrutiny for promoting the Jan. 6 rally that led to the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol.

Many people are saying he wants to spend more time with his indictments.

That’s what happens with bobble-headed agreement…Cultist-to-Cultist.

@maximus

Yes…indictments, criminal and civil litigations await. Then the GOP has to go into another slavering stage

If nothing else it’s nice to see all of the Rethugliklan fascist groups being systematically outed. So much for their gangs’ masquerading as a club.

I guess one man’s RAGA is another man’s MAGA.

(I’m not quite sure what that means but it felt good typing.)

I think a reasonable person could easily see a connection here between their finacial; communications and material support for the rioters and the resulting crimes that occurred.

As officers of the court the DOJ should reasonably initiate a detailed investigation.

For the nth time:

Our System of Justice is slow, methodical, deliberate (especially dealing with people with Legal Muscle).

Trump/Team Trump/GOP do well in this type of environment. They count on bluster and Roy Cohn Derp to project strength and then rely on FOX, RWNJ-World to message the hell out of any jam they think they can snooker the Cultists on.

It enervates

And, most importantly, it makes those who promise (or opine about) Trump receiving Justice seem like:

Damned fools

It seems like quitting the gang that robbed a bank after the robbery occurred to stay out of trouble. Of course, he knows the law but maybe he thinks laying low will help him.

Piper ‘has claimed that “No Republican AG authorized the staff’s decision to amplify a colleague speaking at the rally.”’

Yes, but when you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas, bud.

Reminds me- way way back- of a Ron Paul newsletter that contained an editorial under his very name with the usual Libertarian-racist-Southern Fried bigotry. Paul flubbed response- blame him staff. Ditto wing nut R’s twitter posts: “It was my (Proud Boy) staff.”
Pathetic!

So has anyone checked, reported on, why an association of Republican state AG’s is even a thing?

RAGA elects and re-elects Republican attorneys general nationally to promote and protect the Constitution, freedom, and opportunity for future generations. Core to our mission are the principles of a stable and predictable legal, business, and regulatory climate to ensure our communities are the safest places to live, work, and raise a family

So reading Ballotpedia this org separated from the Republican State Leadership Committee, and both entities are political. I wonder how much time my Republican AG in MO has spent on my dime doing their business.

(O/T what does the portent of a turkey buzzard landing on my garage roof mean? :fearful:)

Trump is a near-psychotic person with a monster NPD. Unfortunately, the same NDP which allows him to inflict incalculable harm also allows him to withstand the threat of jail better than most people without his mental and emotional state.

I’ve never before witnessed a person with as much Legal Tsunami coming at him whilst minions, jerkoffs, and stooges (the GOP) still behave as though he will be a Presidential Nominee in 2024

It was like being at a wild party for these characters, everyone’s drunk and laughing and having a ball, and then somebody manages to start a fire and now the firefighters and the police and the parents and all are there and it’s a whole lot less fun.

Don’t let him weasel out like this. He should be resigning as AG if there’s a big problem with the organization he supported until they got caught.

Carr, in an April 16 resignation letter obtained by AJC, cited a “significant difference of opinion” among the organization’s leadership, with the “fundamental” difference beginning after Jan. 6 and the “opposite views” about the “significance” of the events of that day.

Sorry, but you’re still complicit.

If he had resigned back in January, this excuse might have worked, but three months later is simply not credible.

Also every one of these hypocrites understood perfectly well there was no damn “steal” going on. I would say supporting the real effort to steal the election in any form was a gross violation of whatever ethics they’re sworn to abide by.
