George Santos Gets Snippy About Those Bizarro Campaign Loans

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.

A day after making sweeping amendments to his past FEC reports and further muddying the waters on the origins of the funds he used to make personal loans to his congressional campaign, Rep. George Santos (R-NY) dodged reporters’ questions with this word salad:

Anna Delvey, the fake heiress, did the right thing in trying to pay back her victims with her Netflix biopic money.
Santos has a bigger bill apparently, so he’ll need a bigger payday. In any case, restitution would be a good step in restoring his image. My question is whether Santos as a person is that interesting? He seems a bit of a couch potato.

So, how much is Anna Delvey worth now?

Probably not much. After paying back her victims and legal fees, Anna is maybe left with $22,000. It’s unclear what the terms of her deal with Netflix are, but it’s possible she could make more money off of her infamy in the future.

We’ve been told repeatedly that that the only way Santos vacates office is to resign, and he ain’t doing that.

I’m betting that another couple months of relentless hounding by the DC press pack will make Anthony seriously think about his life choices.

Dude, if you’re constantly lashing out at the press because they hurt your fee-fees while running from them, you’re losing.

I love this latest Santos scandal. The new treasurer listed on the new FEC report told Santos that he did not want to be his treasurer, however someone still forged his name on the document submitted by George Santos to the FEC.

Nation of the gun.

Ms Schildkraut also says “toxic masculinity” could factor in as well: nearly all mass shooters (around 98%) are male.

“If we are trying to understand the root causes of gun violence, we need to start by understanding why people pick up firearms in the first place to inflict harm, regardless of the target of that harm,” Ms Schildkraut said.

“When you compare what is going on in the US to other countries, the one thing that they don’t necessarily have that we have is just such easy access to firearms,” Mr Horwitz said.
