If you’re confused about why random, seemingly nonsensical tweets about the government coming for your gas stoves have taken over your Twitter feed, well, I’m here to help.
If you want to take a slight risk that your child might develop asthma keep using a gas stove. I’m sure many people about to become parents would be happy to go electric.
While this doesn’t have to be “political” I see why it is. And while I am way liberal in general, banning of all gasoline powered vehicles and natural gas heating and cooking is very problematical considering so many areas have rolling blackout issues at various times during the year.
If there isn’t enough electricity to meet demand now and there doesn’t appear to be major electrical grid upgrades for security, reliability and capacity going on now, how are all these electric cars and households going to run???
ETA: So the actual political questions should be, “How are we in the federal government going to ensure that future electrical capacity meets our needs and what steps do we need to take now?”
You know who created the CPSC? That radical Richard Nixon. From Wikipedia:
“The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is an independent agency of the United States government. The CPSC seeks to promote the safety of consumer products by addressing “unreasonable risks” of injury; developing uniform safety standards; and conducting research into product-related illness and injury”.
What ever happened to “build a better mousetrap and they will beat a path to your door”
Consumer products improve over time due to innovation as well as sensible government regulations. These folks who are complaining about this and revere free markets ought to understand this.
There are at least a few libtards like me in the “you’ll take my gas range over my dead body” ranks, but I guess we should just keep out of this fight to avoid giving the R’s any more ammunition.
FFS, Dick there is a reason the Federal reserve calls it the beige book
public figures, especially gov officials IMHO, AREN’T supposed to whip the rubes into a frenzy.
LOL!
Or the high output vent fan as recommended by clean air types
I am always skeptical of putting all my energy eggs in one basket.
Nor Cal here, just admitting I’m a hypocrite and love the wood burning fireplace in my 1934 home.
Of course only used after checking it isn’t a “Spare the Air” day.
I’m not sure how many prospective parents have the wherewithal to replace their stove, but for people planning a kitchen remodel it might counteract the ‘coolness’ of gas stoves. And if you’re not committed to a gas stove you might be willing to switch to a heat pump for hot water and HVAC. I was surprised to learn that the “love to cook on a gas range” thing was actually an ad campaign by an industry group
