Garland Lays Out Approach For DOJ’s Response To Jan. 6 Insurrection | Talking Points Memo

During his confirmation hearing Monday, Judge Merrick Garland made two things clear about how, if he confirmed, he’d lead the Justice Department’s response to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

He asked that “the commission’s investigation not interfere with our ability to prosecute individuals and entities” that caused the storming of the Capitol.

“No grants of immunity, mkay?”

This is nice not only for the general message but because of the knots it ties republicans into. They want to object to Garland being tough on crime, but without admitting that it’s their crimes that are the problem.

Of any sort.

Exactly.

Dunno why they kept talking about January 6th like it was an actual thing.

I wanted to hear more about what he’s going to do to investigate Hunter Biden’s laptop.

I would love to see an investigation of the connections that led to the laptop story being created and spread. Probably some federal crimes in there somewhere.

Meh, no real idea whether there’s actually anything other than a fake laptop.

The photos they release as “proof” it was his, for example, were almost all old ones that had been readily available on the intertubes.

I presume he didn’t have to say “Ollie North” for everyone to understand what he was talking about.

There was a very brief window when Hunter Biden laptops were a growth industry. Then the window snapped shut and many were stuck with a stunning collection of unwieldly doorstops.

It is important to be thorough, but speed counts too. We cannot have these cases run on and on. People involved in Jan 6th attack need to start getting sentenced during 2021. This applies to those that financed and arranged the event no matter who they are. They can appeal while sitting in jail, but those convicted need to be put away for the safety of the system and message to others. I hope the deterrence effect will be large rather than ‘try harder’ next time. I expect we’ll see some interesting plea deals to cooperate on co-conspirators.

That’s only because it was all fake news to begin with.

But if they reported zero cases on January 21st, everyone would know that it was all a big conspiracy to take down the Greatest President Ever.

So they just made a plan to have it nosedive, so that by Memorial Day, with enough sugar-water “vaccines” out there to make it plausible, the numbers reported will be near zero, and everyone can go out to the bars again and party like it’s 1999.

This is correct and public hangings is also correct.
