Gardner Dodges Ukraine Question | Talking Points Memo

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) refused to say yes or no.

When pressed on whether he believes it’s appropriate for the President of the United States to ask a foreign leader to investigate a political rival — referring to President Donald Trump’s now-infamous July call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky showing efforts to pressure Ukraine into manufacturing bogus allegations against the Bidens — Gardner failed to give a direct answer following an address at the Colorado Chamber of Commerce Thursday.

Time for Cory to declare that he wants to spend more time with his wife and family.

“It’s about Colorado, California, North Carolina and Arizona,” Gardner said. “That’s what you’re saying over and over again in all these stories…"

WTF is he talking about?

“Look, I think we are going to have an investigation — and it’s a non-partisan investigation,” Gardner said. “It’s an answer that you get from a very serious investigation.”

Does anybody else hear this as a Trumpian, though higher intellect version of a Trump dodge and parry?

Courageously attempting to thread the needle and crashing into the side of the mountain. Sad.

He’s trying to point out how unfair it is that the only people being asked whether or not it’s okay to have foreign countries interfere in US elections are people who happen to be running for re-election to the US senate. Although California, I don’t know where he got that from. And he left out Maine. And Iowa. And Nebraska. And Texas. And Kentucky.

He’s a (politically) dead man talking. How low do you have to be to be willing to look so cowardly in the service of DJT/GOP?

Thing is, when pitched what should have been a big hug softball of a question, Gardner wouldn’t even take a swing at it, instead whining about how he was being pitched a fastball high and tight. Colorado voters are going to send his corrupt little league ass packing.

Gardner is too stupid to just agree it is wrong for a president to seek from a foreign leader dirt on a political opponent. Someone less dumb would say he isn’t prejudging Trump’s impeachment since the question is a hypothetical.

Alternatively Gardner thinks it’s okay for Trump to engage in such activity, but not a Democrat.

Gardner is a dead man walking in next year’s election. His equivocation on the obvious answer shows he’s too stupid to respirate without help.

The best strategy for Gardner and Concerned Susie right now is to be more trumpian and hope for a large GOP turnout.

With numbers like that he needs to change his tune. Perhaps it is to late and he knows it.

Gee, he looks like Dean Heller in that pic. Bad sign?

With the way things are breaking for many in the GOP, don’t be surprised if this guy’s name creeps in somewhere, sometime.

I suspect they’re all guilty of something, anymore.

Though I did, she’s (currently) safe (right now)

Should be surprised if there’s suddenly an attack on Hick??

Yep, but her support is low among Dems and indies. Rethugs gave her a big boost after the Kavanaugh vote. I expect to see her become more trumpian as the election comes closer.

Lots of big mountains here in Colorado. Wonder if Cory is afraid if he hit one it would chew him up and spit him out.

Rumor has it he is toast in CO. You know, people are saying.
