After Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tweeted a threat to expose Michael Cohen’s alleged infidelity on the eve of the latter’s congressional hearing last March, he was facing an admonishment from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), an investigation by the Florida Bar and general reproach.
”For all those wondering, this is my son Giancarlo. We share no blood but he is my life. He came from Cuba (legally, of course) six years ago and lives with me in Florida. I am so proud of him and raising him has been the best, most rewarding thing I’ve done in my life.”
Gaetz seemingly has no problems with Trump’s numerous, publicly known infidelities, yet wants to publicize Cohen’s to his detriment? Sauce and geese and ganders apply here.
Plus Gaetz has a pool-boy issue of his own that deserves to go public very soon.
Gee, it sure seems like giving advice to a politician would be a conflict of interest for a journalist, especially one that the journalist was reporting on. I guess it’s a good thing for Hannity that he’s not a real journalist, and works for not-a-real news organization.
Really, the bigger story here is the ethics lapses at Fox News that allow this kind of thing to go on. This is way beyond leaning towards a candidate…if Maddow was giving advice to the Biden campaign it would be the equivalent, and Republicans would blow their tops if it happened.
It’s comforting to know that “[Gaetz] made statements that were reasonably perceived threats to a witness” but “did not violate the federal witness tampering [laws].”
Makes me wonder what Gaetz would have to do to rise to the level of knowingly using intimidation or threats, or harassing another person and thereby hindering, delaying, preventing, or dissuading him from attending or testifying in an official proceeding. (18 US Code §1512)
