I can’t find a good TPM forum right now to paste this into, but if you have heard about Chump’s recurring payments/donations scam he began before the Nov election and continued since then - he has responded to the criticism of what a cold-blooded vampire he is:

The cork board illustration is all wrong. Greenberg should be in the center position, with a link to Gaetz just off to his right. You want to leave plenty of room for the other vertices and edges to radiate out from these two, since Greenberg is the central figure, Gaetz is his right-hand man and/or his most politically connected client/co-pervert, and the sex-trafficking ring cum fake ID operation seems to be modelled on a multilevel marketing business plan.

Interesting thought, but wouldn’t the investigation have started long before Masty Gaetz went after Lyz Cheney? (which was January this year, IIRC)

He starting targeting Liz Cheney last year. I’d have to go back and look at the exact month he started going public against her, and then we still don’t know precisely when the DoJ opened their investigation into him. Still, given the standing rule that any investigation into a sitting Congress person had to be personally approved by Barr does raise some questions. Barr has ties to the Bushies and Cheney, after all.

Its an interesting theory, but Greenberg ratting him out seems the much more plausible explanation.

Greenberg didn’t have to rat him out. Gaetz’s privacy was collateral damage in the investigation and the result suggested Gaetz broke the law. Gaetz is a first-class jerk, so there may have been one or more investigators who really liked the idea of pursuing the charges, when they might not have bothered had the collateral damage fallen on someone less notoriously awful.
