Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Monday said that the release of the now-infamous unhinged call he had with President Trump, who berated the battleground state’s top elections official in his attempt to bully him into overturning election results, was spurred by Trump airing his grievances about the private call in a tweet.
If not Raffensperger then his lawyer or whoever was on his side of the call. Or praps one of the trump minions on the call did the deed as a shiv in trump’s ribs.
These days it would make sense to record any call with trump out of self preservation if nothing else.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some private back-and-forth after the tweets, something along the lines of “go ahead and release the tape Mr. President.” If so, finding out Trump did must have made Raffensperger feel like someone had just gone “all in” against his royal flush.
I suspect trump went ballistic when he found out he was recorded and that it was loose. After all there are about a dozen crimes he committed in that hour long call. And he knows they’re his crimes tho he’ll never admit to it.
Let me get it straight:
Raffensperger did not record the call. He did not tell anyone in his office to record the call. He simply said outloud to the full zoom session of employees: “Audio of this call should not be publicly released without my authorization”. He had no idea someone would then record the call.
It is amazing to realize that the most principled of Republican politicians is such a coward.
Cleta Mitchell , a partner at Foley & Lardner , participated in the Saturday call in which Trump pressured the Georgia secretary of state to “find” 11,780 votes to help Trump win that state’s election.
In a statement, a spokesman for Foley said the firm does not represent “any parties seeking to contest the results of the presidential election.”
