GA Rep. Arrested For Knocking On Guv’s Door As He Signed GOP’s Anti-Voting Bill Released From Jail

Georgia Rep. Park Cannon (D) announced early Friday morning that she was no longer under police custody after she had been arrested for knocking on Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s (R) door at the state capitol building as he was signing GOP lawmakers’ notorious voter suppression bill.

Watch the video. She simply knocks on the door and the police officer grabs her and then she is swarmed by other officers and dragged out, heels first, from the capitol. Shameful.

Sometimes you have to get into some good trouble.
Here we are back in the 1950’s again. That should be reassuring to the GA racists.

What do they charge her with? Aggravated interphalangeal joint percussion? I mean, you can try to make it sound like something but that’s pretty thin.

Yep. One thing you can’t say is that this is unprecedented. It’s all kinds of precedented.

What happened is just scary

I sure as hell hope this goes viral. Once again, the racists are totally unafraid of showing their true color…

And I sure as hell hope that a gazillion people send this to Justice Roberts, he of the “not enough racism to justify VRA” belief. 'Cause if the man doesn’t recognize this as racism, he should be impeached and removed from the damned SCOTUS.

Vile, absolutely vile and so Jim Crow.

Georgia will not, in any circumstance, tolerate the wrong candidates winning elections. Fairness and civil rights be damned…

I have a feeling this will backfire on the Republicans.

This pisses me off so much. Capitol rioters with zipties take flights home to their family. This brave woman is arrested on the spot by how many cops!!?

I suspect it will and I hope the backlash is of tsunami magnitude.

I’ve got every kind of privilege there is, pretty much, and even I know Officer Friendly’s demeanor gets a lot less sunny if you defy his or her tin-god authority in any way and boy, it doesn’t take much. It’s just in their DNA and they don’t much care how it looks. And if you see it once you won’t ever see any officer as quite so friendly. It’s not about service and protection. It’s about authority, right or wrong. I was talking to a nice young guy once who told me he wanted to be a cop until he got to know some and noped out of the whole thing. Some are better than others, I’m sure, but they aren’t mostly good. Not buying that one any more.

I don’t understand how she could be arrested. Was she trespassing or in the wrong place? Did she threaten Kemp in some way? Is it illegal for a black woman to bother the Governor? Who ordered her to be arrested?

I’m born and live in sunny San Diego CA, we just don’t have this level of bs, yes, we have issues and abuses, yes, we have our areas of racists (more geared against “Mexicans”) , yes my congressman is a reprobate Trump sycophant, but we got nothing on the history from the South.

These people are just aholes. I’m sick of them.

There are no good Republicans. Don’t vote for them.

Especially because the Georgia GOP will take this abusive legislation and abuse the crap out of it … they will see to it that polling places in blue areas will be inadequate in terms of capacity, horribly inconvenient in terms of location and intentionally slow in processing … and when efforts are made to persevere and overcome … those efforts will be deemed “illegal” … bring granny a bottle of water after she has stood in line for 4 hours? Arrested

This is absolutely brutally naked weaponized bigotry.

You may want to become more knowledgeable about CA history. Start with discrimination against Asians.
