I’m so old I remember when I was active in political campaigns, 70s - 80s, we were worried about mail-in ballots because they were heavily Rethug.

That was the original ask when Trump was whining that once he was in the lead, no more ballots (cast by mail or in person) should be counted, even though big Democratic cities are always slower to tabulate ballots simply because there are more to count than in rural areas.

What is the Court going to do if a state tells them to go screw themselves. The law of that state requires that all ballots post marked by election “day” must be included in their tabulation. The Constitution specifically states the States will control the elections and that they will not report the final tabulation until all such votes are counted.
ETA. And to add to Alito’s Election “Day” bullshit ; what about early voting. Will the Court insist that early votes don’t matter. What a pile of inconsistent and illogical bullshit.

The Calvinball 6 are determined to use every means fair or foul to rig the elections so that the Republicans win, will of the voters be d*mned. This suggests that they have no illusions about the coming Democratic tsunami wave in the '26 mid-terms.
Team Blue needs to make sure we vote in such overwhelming numbers that Republican cheating will have no affect.

As it turns out, the post office does not always postmark ballots. I lost one vote that way even though it was mailed 2 days before the election. It ended up in a late delivery - 4 days after the election - with no postmark. My spouse’s ballot, mailed at the same time, had been counted on election day, btw.
The ROV urged me to use a drop box instead of PO. If available in your area, spread the word for folks to use those!

So if the SC decides that voting by mail is corrupt then how are American citizens that work abroad have their vote counted? This includes members of the military stationed outside the US boundaries. Along with embassy staff and ambassadors.
If members of the military could vote by mail during the Civil War…god this makes my headache.

Voting in the California elections from up here in Quebec we get the ballot in the mail, fill it out, then hike over to the nearest “Bureau en Gros” (google it…) and vote via FAX. Not sure the Repubs are “sophisticated” enough to realize that’s a thing, so they may let it go one more election be cutting off phone service to the election offices…

Remember when Dems were furious at Lieberman, in 2000, for saying the post EDay ballots should be counted? I’m not so sure Repubs should be giddy about this. Dems are determined to vote this year. A lot of old folks are Repub and presumably vote more by mail.
Exactly. WA and Oregon have already done so, and won the lawsuit against Trump earlier this year.

The fact that 30 of the 50 states use a mail-in balloting system means more intentional chaos created by the Stupid 6. I have no doubt WA’s governor and AG will never back down.

But, of course.
Election Day does not mean Voting Day, as in the day I cast my ballot to determine who’s elected.
Election Day means Counting Day, as in if it’s not counted today it doesn’t count.
