The head of a prominent Christian conservative policy organization appeared on Fox News Sunday arguing that the reason the U.S. has seen an uptick in mass shootings is because schools now teach evolution.
Christianity is not in conflict with evolution. The Catholic Church has said so for 60 years, and most mainline protestant churches never had an issue. It’s just the evangelical outliers who do.
“I mean look, we’ve taught our kids that they come about by chance through primordial slime and we’re surprised that they treat their fellow Americans like dirt,” Perkins said.
It’s one thing to “come from primordial slime”, but an entirely other thing to continue to behave like primordial slime by willingly choosing to do nothing in the face of gun terror, unique to America.
‘it needs Christianity back in the “public square.”’
Now wait one darn second here, what about all the Hopes & Prayers?
You want miracles?
'“I mean look, we’ve taught our kids that they come about by chance through primordial slime and we’re surprised that they treat their fellow Americans like dirt,” ’
That looks like a beautiful miracle of nature to me.
Not the first time this weekend that I’ve heard stupidity about evolution from the Right.
Yesterday, we went to the Minnesota State fair. We take shuttle buses in - very convenient. So of course, outside the fair, there was some charlatan crowing about his faith and what the Bible says, from his point of view. He was railing against evolution and how there was absolutely no evidence that evolution was true.
Must be the talking point of the week or something.
ETA: it’s that or one has to wonder how they put their pants on in the morning without injuring themselves.
