Fox News Contributor: There Is Still ‘Some Debate’ About Whether Masks Are ‘Good’ | Talking Points Memo

Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy suggested during a segment Friday that there is still “some debate” about whether or not masks are “good,” even within the scientific community.

I think we can all agree that:

There is NO Debate about the intelligence of Rachel Campos-Duffy… she obviously has none

Someone should ask her if she insists that people that are around her youngest, that has a heart condition, have to wear a mask?

We’ve known for more than a century that masks impede transmission via droplets in the air, the main way these viruses are spread. There wouldn’t be any question about this if the president weren’t an idiot. What we’re starting to learn about more are the insidious kinds of damage done to the heart, nervous system, kidneys and who knows what else by this virus we blithely say 99 percent will recover from. THIS IS INSANITY.

Is it? I mean - If it’s WILLFUL DISREGARD FOR REALITY - does that make someone clinically insane?

Or - you know - just a Republican?

I would not call a diatribe between the willfully ignorant a “debate.” It is the flapping of gums, the utterance of sound, the flatulence through the vocal folds of science deniers.

Masks are not only good at reducing exposure and slowing the pandemic, they are necessary at this time. So stop whining and put on a fucking mask.

“There are consequences to poverty and economic depression that we are not considering, that maybe — and I believe are more serious than the chance of getting COVID, which 99 percent of the people will recover from,” Campos-Duffy said.

And of those, only 15-20% will require hospitalization, which is all free and fully covered by our benevolent insurance companies, right? 15 is less than 99, so yeah, masks really should be optional and personal choice.

Good fucking grief.

Rachel Campos-Duffy and her husband, former Congressman Sean Duffy are both right wing lunatics. Remember Sean, he’s the one that complained about his government salary of $174K plus benefits. Can anyone say “entitled and delusional former reality show stars?” Such BS.

Strange, but she doesn’t look as stupid as she sounds. Clearly, she came with the same packaging the Kayleigh bot did.

The John Birch Society called Lamar Advertising “hypocrites” for taking down their anti-mask billboards when they have billboards for Cannabis stores and Sex Shops. I am not kidding.

Meanwhile, the local Spokane Company, Lamar Advertising, only put up one of the four billboards that the NAACP wanted to put up. Apparently they had trouble believing that Spokane Cops really are killers (they are).

Why this country is failing to contain the virus. 1.1M tested positive in the past month, more than all of Europe, Canada, Japan, South Korea and Australia, combined. I take no pleasure knowing the oppo ads that will write themselves.

public health experts often find uncomfortable to discuss because many try to steer clear of partisan politics. But many agree that the poor results in the United States stem in substantial measure from the performance of the Trump administration.

In no other high-income country — and in only a few countries, period — have political leaders departed from expert advice as frequently and significantly as the Trump administration. President Trump has said the virus was not serious; predicted it would disappear; spent weeks questioning the need for masks; encouraged states to reopen even with large and growing caseloads; and promoted medical disinformation.

With 9 kids, I think Campos-Duffy might also be confused about how birth control works…

So by that “99%” metric, if we “went by cases” a’la DJT there should only be 50,000 dead right now with 5 million cases, instead of the actual 163,000 deaths, right?

Or does she mean 99% of the population? 3.3 million deaths is acceptable?

Unskewed Health Statistics?

Same argument, different day - cure can’t be worse than disease; grandparents should be willing to sacrifice their lives so their grandchildren have a fat portfolio, and so on.

ETA - I think I’ll call this idea Capitalist Eugenics

An arithmetic lesson for Campos-Duffy:

  1. Many of the anti-maskers in the GOP are proponents of the herd immunity approach to Covid-19.

  2. According to the Mayo Clinic “Experts estimate that in the U.S., 70% of the population — more than 200 million people — would have to recover from COVID-19 to halt the epidemic.”

  3. Even if your 99% recovery rate were real, and statistics do not support that assumption, that would mean more than 2 million dead in the US.

You good with that?

Yeah, a mask doesn’t cure COVID-19…or cancer for that matter. Completely useless, and also a violation of her 2nd Amendment rights !
