Fox News anchor Chris Wallace, who is set to moderate the first presidential debate between President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden next week, announced on Tuesday six topics for the debate.
I dunno . . . this looks like an attempt to give Biden a heads-up on the questions in advance of the debate. I hope Bill O’Reilly is on the case for us.
No. But Hunter Biden’s “crimes” are all valid topics of debate.
Not sure why Joe Biden even accepted to debate a well-known and completely shameless liar. Trump is just going to make up things and gullible americans would believe that its somewhat true.
The only way this debate is fair is if the moderator call BS as it is being dumped.
Wallace may be biased – Fox News is registered as ‘entertainment’ for a reason* – but he’s shown more than once that he’s Mike’s son and serious about his own integrity and the integrity of facts so I don’t think he’s going to make it easy for Trump to bullshit even if the format of the debate does not allow for real-time fact checking. JMO
*ETA: Technically I don’t think Wallace works for “Fox News” which is a cable network w/ the lack of regulation that implies, I think he is actually employed by Fox Broadcasting which is FCC regulated and the run-on with Fox News is done to blur the lines between his business and the business of bullshitting and rabble rousing that Hannity, Carlson, et al engage in. Willing to be corrected about that but think that’s close.
Trump’s Record will be a fertile topic for everything. Also Biden just needs to repeat, Ad Nauseum, “My opponent is a liar and a cheat -pay no attention to anything he says, its fake news !”
Indeed.
Tropical Storm Teddy will hit Greenland with gale force winds on Friday.
By Sunday the DMI 80N Heat graff might exceed 0.
That 0 will then represent our chance of holding AGW to 1.5 C . Even 2C is in doubt at this point.
Switching the Arctic from albedo reflective to dark water heat absorption is what we’ve done .
All snarking aside, these are a pretty good selection of topics…climate change is the one glaring omission. There’s a lot of space in these topics to explore the misbegotten behavior of the Trump administration, and Biden now has a framework to build his response to Trump’s most common lies (which really should be some version of “he’s lying again” and then onto his points). The real question is which Chris Wallace will show up…Republican toady or journalist who asks decent follow up questions, and whether he actually asks Trump any difficult questions or just tries to nail Biden.
As to Biden doing the debates…Trump and Republicans have been harping on Biden’s mental unfitness, and there will be a lot of people who watch the debate expecting Trump lie and biden to babble. When Biden performs above expectations, it’s going to make them really question what Republicans have been saying, and questioning will turn some towards Biden. Not the partisans, they will think Trump owned Biden no matter how much he lies…others though will be convinced, as long as Biden has a good showing. The second debate, where they have to interact with Americans, will crush Trump, simply because Biden is so good at empathy and talking to people. The debates are going to solidify Biden’s win, and hopefully build stronger coattails to other Democrats.
