Fox Hosts Claim COVID-19 Victory | Talking Points Memo

Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile.

Fox News hosts are now riding high on CDC Director Robert Redfield’s prediction that there will be a “much lower” COVID-19 death toll than what the Trump administration previously projected as people are “taking the social distancing recommendations to heart.”

50,000 Americans dying in four months from a disease they said was a hoax. And they call that a victory? uh… okay.

Yes they are and nary a FACT among them. Laura with her ‘medical crew’, Sean with his interviews with Donnie and his fact free ‘reports’ from the hospitals and Tuck with his ‘stats’ on the models. A bunch of lies. Then the Orange Yam takes over the bully pulpit, oh sorry the PODIUM, and screams at actual reporters.

This is gaslighting at it’s absolute worst. And the soft-minded audience that Fox panders to will lap this shit right up while it’s still warm.

Fox News and in particular these reprehensible talking heads are the worst of all possible people in a world already swimming with the dregs and detritus of society.

Fuck them and everything they stand for. People are dying because of peopel like Hannity and Carlson and they will never be held accountable. At least Rush Limbaugh is suffering (I hope) from terminal cancer.

Thank God dt did not take responsibility for this crisis so therefore he will not accept credit. (Sarcasm)

The CDC is just cooking the books to make trump look good.

It’s the only model showing this sharply lower projection, and questions have already been raised about the assumptions being built into it (such as Colorado where it projects that it’s past its peak already, which is news to the folks out there who are seeing it on the upward slope…).

Nothing short of Darwin award candidates.

There’re gonna be so many candidates. So many.

Just a reminder, Fox News plans to bring everyone back to their office by May.

Problem should solve itself.

I have to hope that we all will.

At some point - even if it’s the 70 some days Wuhan was shut down - this quarantine needs to go.

This makes me so angry. These models are very sensitive to small changes in data (not because the models are bad, but because of the underlying reality), and the data we have are, sadly, very noisy. It’s so hard to figure out what’s going on because we don’t have enough tests, and it’s hard to even ascribe deaths when they happen at home, etc. We should be diligent in trying to discern the truth through an intense fog of war.

Instead, here we have the disinformation warriors at Fox pulling this shit. They should be ashamed of themselves, but we have lots of experimental evidence that shame has no power over them, not even in life and death matters.

Assume for the sake of argument that they are right. If we declare victory now there will be a giant rebound and we will have a lot of unnecessary deaths. TV and radio yakers like these guys are all about getting people killed.

Maybe Fox will have George W. Bush strut out in a flight suit stuffed full of socks in the crotch area and declare “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.”

Those dumbfucks never learn.

As I like to say about folks like this, they got their medical degrees at Walmart (or maybe in this case Trump U.).

Sadly, though, the minions would rather listen to these folks than to the experts because of their fear of science and knowledge.

I don’t mind if these folks eliminate themselves by their own stupidity. They’ve been told and told and told and they still want to believe they won’t be susceptible.

More’s the pity, but as Ron White has famously said, ’ you can’t fix stupid’.

Buckle up, it’s going to be longer. Wuhan isn’t really open for business, more they’ve moved to something closer to our stay in place orders that are much looser than they were.

Look for a spike in cases in the south when they start to gobble up this shit.

You know who doesn’t watch Fox or give a fuck about revised models?

COVID-19. It passes from person to person every chance it gets. It has ONE JOB and it does it very well. So when (not if) the social-distancing counter measures are relaxed too quickly, it’s just going to get back to work, transmitting itself from person to person as quickly and efficiently as it can.

Only a vaccine or reasonably effective drug intervention for infected patients can interrupt this process. Well, that, or roughly 70% of the population gets it and herd immunity starts to take hold.
