The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals threw out a lawsuit filed by the Maryland and D.C. attorneys general accusing President Trump of violating the Constitution’s Emoluments clause on Wednesday, fulfilling a request from the President to end the suit.
I don’t have time to read the decision, but apparently the court thinks that no one has a sufficient interest in enforcing the Constitution to bring suit.
Remember when we used to have a government of laws and not of men?
Nope, they’re not paying attention - no one understands the Emoluments rule and no one cares because it’s summer. I know far too many people who are not paying attention to any of this and get sad if anyone even brings it up.
Public opinion is non-existent on this and all the other stuff. Ergo, nothing will be done.
The court has now held and a precedent has been established that none of this matters, legally, so we should just stop whinging about it.
I am a natural-born citizen of this country, and i am witnessing the willful destruction of this nation’s constitution by our President. Do i have standing to sue the President over these constitutional violations that are harming my country, and its future as a democratic republic?
