Yeah, who the hell is dumb enough to believe even this figure on Dec 30?

Q: Who could have seen this coming?
A: Anyone who knows anything about logistics.

I don’t understand how it’s possible to be this incompetent on purpose, to fuck things up this badly has to be deliberate? Even malign indifference can’t explain it.

“The federal government doesn’t invade Texas or Montana and provide shots to people,” - Adm. Brett Giroir, Assistant Secretary for Health

Yikes. I used to (initially) respect this guy.

It just smells like the usual overpromising and underdelivering that comes when politicians jump ahead of reality and make rosy promises.

All the underlings try to please them and present similarly rosy projections, while the actual folks working the actual plans present the real numbers, only to have those rejected from being pushed up and out, because the top guy promised something bigger, and the folks working directly for him don’t want to get yelled at.

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health website, Oklahoma has received 122, 750 doses and has administered 29,725, because what’s the hurry? It’s not as if we have the highest test positivity rate in the country, and we have opted out of the weekly WH Coronavirus Task Force report.
So @IBecameACitizenforthis you may have a point. It may not be simple incompetence. Our Governor is insistent that we open schools but not all that insistent that we wear masks or get our vaccines. There aren’t really many other explanations for it.

Operation Warped Goalpost.

Also, I’m pretty sure they’ll have strettttched the definition of “distributed” a little, to cover “allocated”. I’ll bet if you ask the states how many physical vials they’ve received you’ll get answer more along the lines of 5 million doses’ worth.

Delivery ≠ vaccinations. Twenty million of latter was goal for the end of this month.

It’s official: the Trump administration will deliver 14 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to the states by the end of the year.

Overpromise, underdeliver! The epitaph for the Trump Administration.

It’s the grift angle, or rather the absence thereof. No one in that administration has the will or energy to do anything unless there’s something extra in it for them. Plus there’s those who try to stymie non-grifted activity on the premise that nothing should go forward unless beaks get wetted.

It was never an Administration.

George Herbert Mead would call it a Play Stage Presidency.

Like my granddaughter’s plastic toy oven.

And to think, the Louis Gohmerts, Marco Rubios and Josh Hawleys of the GOP are, as we write, proclaiming: “Kakistocracy, fuck yeah!!!” “Four more years!!!”

Dumb story. It’s not going to stay at the same rate, this is just the initial growing pains of figuring out the distribution.

Like they say, the best battle plans work perfectly right up until the first contact with the enemy.

Lots of things worked fine in the plans that can get easily skewed on implementation. For example, starting to launch distribution at the same time there’s a major storm system affecting many parts of the Midwest-Northeast, hubs for it, and when the same distributors are getting overwhelmed by unprecedented volume of Christmas packages.

Too bad Obama didn’t leave a plan to help Trump learn from the issues that arose with H1N1 so he could iron them out and maybe fix the issue…oh wait! Biggest thing about the thread is how the projected number vaccinated kept going down in the predictions.

I think it’s crazy that apparently the only option he can think of in terms of helping with final injection of the vaccine doses is invading states.

It’s like the concept of cooperatively coming with a plan, and sharing responsibilities and resources etc didn’t even strike them. All they can think of is war and destruction.

You got it. It was never a real administration at all. He mostly left positions unfilled, agencies are tattered, there is no organization and he’s completely absent now - he does not give one fuck what happens except if it overturns his loss.

Yes there is that thing in large organization when they try and roll out a new policy, or a new program The CEO gives a figure that they’ll be looking for, and then as the details trickle down then regional manager up the quota. And when the regional manager talk to their district managers then they pile more on to that quota. And then once the district managers talk to the store managers then the store managers add more to the quota. And in the end the cashiers get fired because they couldn’t produce the outrageous quota numbers that they’re being held responsible for. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
