The nearly 1,000 page report released by the Senate Thursday morning reveals new details about Russian interference in the 2016 election, going beyond — and at times openly contradicting — the findings of the Mueller report.
Because Crooked Robert Mueller was not conducting an investigation, he was conducting a disguised cover-up. The he reported to Rod Rosenstein who had helped Trump fire Comey and later came out as a big Trump fan.
So, this is a clear conspiracy to get Wikileaks to release information as a conduit from Russia. There’s just no denying the connections anymore, and the fact that they were having conference calls and informing multiple parties about it just makes it that much worse. The legal exposure for these people should be severe, but I don’t know if there will be any consequences as it’s been four years now, the statute of limitations may have run out.
The big thing is that Trump (or his lawyers) was caught lying to the FBI…that’s likely still actionable, if someone wants to pursue it. There are also still strings to pull to investigate this stuff, even if they can’t prosecute…burning reputations would probably be enough for some of these people.
Can a PAC use this info in ads bought to play in various media outlets during the R convention. There should be major emphasis on the bipartisan nature of the intelligence committee. On second thought perhaps the Lincoln Project could run the ads.
Here’s a link to Vol. 5 of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on Russian subversion of the 2016 US election. I think it resolves any remaining doubts about who Mueller was working for:
So sad to reflect on our hopes at the time for Mueller’s probity, honesty, and diligence. I would really like to know who told him to bury this. The same folks who then tee-ed up LowBarr for AG I suppose…
This stuff could have been part of the impeachment, if the Senate really had done its job, which it didn’t, calling no witnesses and shirking its duty.
Leaving aside the question of whether a sitting president is liable to indictment, the standard of proof for initiating a criminal prosecution is probable cause. It isn’t until the trial that the government is obligated to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt.
Mueller’s people placed upon themselves a much higher burden. Because of ramifications from the whole “you can’t indict the president, therefore you can’t say anything that implies he’s guilty of a crime” bull pucky. So everything in the report had to be scrubbed of statements that could be read to imply criminal behavior on the part of trump.
Just btw, going back to the original “thing of value”, if manafort’s “volunteer” services were being bought with russian/ukrainian promises of debt forgiveness/payoffs, that means the russians were giving the campaign a thing of value right there. They bough a campaign manager and gave him, free of charge…
This report did not fall out of the sky. Most likely, much of this information was known to the committee members during the impeachment trial. Nevertheless the republicans on the committee, knowing some of this, saw fit not to dig any deeper, or to call any witnesses. Complete dereliction of their oath.
Mueller had all the powers of Hell at his command, and he punted. He had access to everything needed. He was the only one. AND, he swept up and paralyzed every other investigation, the witnesses, the documents, the intercepts, the tracking, and the court powers needed to compel testimony and evidence. Was it by design, that what looked like a massive investigation actually put into R hands, completely, the means to derail and bury everything? Did Republicans NOT plan all this, but masterfully jumped on the opportunity when it appeared Mueller had ways of getting to all the goodies and had scooped them all in a group, ripe for destruction? Was it completely Bill Barr towards the end of the Mueller investigation that single-handedly decapitated and knee-capped the whole thing because it was what he and Chump, alone, wanted?
I don’t know. But it sure worked out that NOTHING ELSE moved until Mueller let it go. Everything ground to a halt, time passed and time passed until it almost didn’t matter anymore, and the end result is that all the evidence had been piled in one spot and it pretty much got shredded and then burned. I can’t imagine any way you get caught stealing an election with Russian help, and GET AWAY WITH IT unless Mueller gets appointed Special Counsel and then spent two years doing what he did with a Barr flourish as a finisher.
It is the spectacular OPPOSITE of an investigation into criminal malfeasance, and Chump was mostly right in calling it a complete vindication. I know, I know, it wasn’t really but in effect…taking the long 20/20 hindsight view…it did much MUCH more to help Chump than it hurt him. In fact, he probably owes his survival to Mueller.
When I looked at memeorandum.com’s headlines today, I saw the
Fox News take on this story—that the report found the FBI relied too heavily on the Steele dossier. There’s nothing on their politics web page now. That’s it. They completely ignored the story.
And it’s criminal, cooperative, collusion, and even more reason to vote the motherfucker out, and do everything possible to protect the election and every vote.
And under President Biden, the investigations and indictments for the 2016 conspiracy and for all the corruption and criminality that has happened since 01/20/2017 and is likely to happen before 01/20/2021 must happen.
