Former Rep. Bob Livingston’s Lobbying Firm Jumps In The Medical Supply Game | Talking Points Memo

Former Rep. Bob Livingston (R-LA) and other politically connected players are jumping into the COVID-19 supply business — with some help from the National Governors Association.

Livingston’s lobbying firm and another firm started by a top Republican fundraiser are listed on NGA’s “Coronavirus Resources” page

If one were a cynic it would be easy to connect the dots with “Kushner is coordinating the administration’s coronavirus response” and “federal government’s seizures of medical goods destined for states, localities and major hospital and medical systems.”

But, if in 2014, Michelle Obama had ordered some vitamins from Amazon, the GOP would have been screaming for the impeachment of President Obama…

This is Putinism 101: State appropriates a class of assets; state hands assets to a selected oligarch or to a small cadre of oligarchs; oligarchs deliver baksheesh to the leader of the state. Jared can’t do much o’ nothin’ but it is possible he can manage this system. It is not complicated.

Sorta connected: This NPR story from yesterday in which there’s an interview with the head of the largest manufacturer of surgical masks in the country. This bit brought me up short:

KELLY: What percentage of your orders come from the federal government? And I suppose I’m asking in part because we keep…

BOWEN: Zero.

KELLY: Zero. There…

BOWEN: Zero.

KELLY: It’s all private customers, hospitals and so forth.

BOWEN: Yeah. It’s hospitals and hospital distributors and dental distributors. We haven’t done business with the federal government since 2010. Over the last 10 years, we have bid on the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration’s masks, and they always choose masks that are made in Mexico because they’re cheaper.

There will be ample proof of fraud leading to the deaths of our citizens after this is all done. I truly hope there will be people to investigate, and media to distribute what they learn. But it looks like the media is 90% owned or in the control of the GOP, and the senate is far too forgiving of its own.

Our society is quite a bit more broken than I thought on waking up this morning.

When you have a for-profit healthcare system, which places profits above human life, what does it matter how many stages of grift can be counted in-between. It’s a feature, not a bug.

I’ve been calling for a “Truman Commission” for weeks now due to the rampant Profiteering and Price Gouging, not to mention the outright theft of product by the US Government, which is then shipped DIRECTLY to PRIVATE MEDICAL SUPPLY BROKERS for sale by them to the Highest Bidder (frequently overseas to foreign governments.)
The potential for kickbacks and “palm greasing” is vast and hugely profitable and you can be assured that the Trump Crime Family is “getting it’s beak wet”.

Even a cursory investigation by Congress will run into “Presidential Privilege” claims by the Trump administration to block any discovery of Jared Kushner’s (and Trump’s) blatant profiteering off of the Pandemic. That is WHY he put Kushner in charge of this, so he could cover it all up with “Presidential Privilege” since Jared is a “Presidential Advisor”.

Why the Media is too scared to look into this, I don’t know, but it stinks to high heaven.

It’s NOT just former GOP Rep Livingston…and it is NOT just GOP Sen. Loeffler in addition to GOP Sen. Burr - it is also GOP Sen. Perdue!

And the BIGLIEST Swampy Profiteer while in Office of all:

SO MUCH PROFITING while in office…
WORST…SO MUCH PROFITING while in office in TIMES of a PANDEMIC!

GREED: So much winning

HELL: Capacity FULL

ME: Insider Trading is UNLAWFUL

Like Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle, in the plague’s aftermath I look forward to an avalanche of reading material that will radically reshape how we think about government, healthcare, and the role of lobbying firms.

Not really, no.

I would happily sacrifice all the joys and triumphs I would experience over the next few months just to vote against these parasites today.

We’ll know that the worst is over when we start seeing arguments for “not using 2020 hindsight to judge the people who did the best they could. No one could have foreseen that this would happen, and anyone who suggests otherwise is with the terrorists.”
On second thought, it will probably happen this afternoon. But the push will start.

So you don’t understand that shareholder-owned companies are legally required to not rock the boat?

That amounts to control. And who is the media on the left? Culturally defunct newspapers? CNN does it because Zucker is rich enough not to give a damn, and he likes twisting their tits.

Or maybe you missed the fact the the Trump-critical NY Daily News was bought out and broken up. Or Sinclair Group companies buying out TV, newspapers, and radio in the same market - something that was illegal a few years ago, and is now open season.

Whatever the GOP are saying is a lie. The more they say it, the bigger the lie. The ‘mainstream media’ is the mother of those lies.

Yours is a very bad and dumb take.

This is no more suspicious than if FEMA rented all empty office space in Trump Tower and 666 Fifth Avenue.
