House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) came out swinging on Thursday in the wake of news that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) had removed the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH), and replaced him with a MAGA loyalist. In a statement, Jeffries called the move “shameful.” Mike Turner is a serious, thoughtful…
Translation: If I can get Mike Turner to switch parties we’ll be one vote shy of retaking the House.
In the future Johnson will refrain from confessing that he’s acting on orders from Mar a Lago. Problem solved for the powers that be; the rest of the world, however, will learn to expect the worst.
OT, but I just had an epiphany
I was watching Pam Bondi’s hearing and when she said she was not aware of Trump calling the January 6th criminals hostages I thought about all of the thousands of times RW politicians would say that they were not familiar with something the Felon-in-Chief had said. Suddenly I had this thought that maybe it is true! If all you watch is FOX News you definitely might not be aware of a lot of things Trump says.
Then I Googled the difference between having an eiphany and a brain cramp.
A bit OT, but my wife’s family came over on the Mayflower, or close to it. They settled in Philly and her ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War. We have a framed piece of a redcoat that has been passed down for generations. My family arrived in the 1940s. She was saying today that we don’t need a civil war as much as another revolutionary war. That is, a war not against the tyranny of the crown but the tyranny of the dollar. I like that, but I don’t know what to do with it other than to say we have some kind of war on our hands and we better win it.
Not surprising a Senator from MTG-Land.
State senator arrested at Georgia Capitol while trying to enter House chamber
She’s a bleached blonde whore. She knows what she’s doing.
Would us sending her Midol and a heating pad help?
The “G” in GOP stands for Gestapo!
I wonder how many Dems have roots that go back all the way to founding of this nation? My maternal lineage also were here first as British citizens. On my paternal side that grandfather was first generation German/American, and my paternal grandmother was second generation German/American.
I think I see a trend in how spot an a-hole Republican-look for the beard. Funny how all these guy bend the knee to all things Trumpian, but DonOLD has always been clean shaven. Weird.
Same here, my mother’s paternal line arrived in Massachusetts just after the Mayflower. My paternal grandfather became a U.S. citizen in 1898 after being here 5 yrs. His wife -paternal grandmother- was a first generation American. Both were Irish.
Your wife is on the money so to speak.
The war is about the same thing as ever, stratification of society. This time the weapons are information as foreseen by George Orwell, Aldus Huxley and others.
And the people holding the most weapons are the monied oligarchs. So far, the good guys are losing.
“Turner has been vocal about the U.S. preserving its relationships with NATO allies and supporting Ukraine during Russia’s ongoing invasion of the country . . .”
So, Turner is one of the last members of “my father’s” GOP?
Now, we get numbnuts like MarkWayne Mullin in the Senate, misquoting Bible verses during live confirmation hearings.
My Mexican side has no idea how long that side of the family has been in north america.
The Slovene side, 1910s.
The Taliban ALL have beards. An easy way to spot them.
Or not.
The patient-elect doesn’t really go in for subtle forms of public humiliation and abasement. He likes all the world to see his toadies cringing and scraping before him. It’s all part of the dominance display.
My ex-brother-in-law’s family has been in the Rio Grande Valley since before the there was a Texas, or United States. They still have the signed charter from the King of Spain for their land.
And here I thought my maternal side of the family were packrats.
This one does! More prominently, Sen. Duckworth’s father’s family goes back to the Colonial Period. Moreover, they participated in every war this country has fought, including her father. She didn’t join a combat arm on a whim.
