For the Trump Administration, The Enemy is Everywhere

I know, they just don’t want us to tell them we understood.

Additionally there’s a very strong whiff of White supremest Political Correctness at the moment. This should be pointed out, it’s the kind of speech and thought suppression they used to complain about. We always knew it was BS, only they should be able to keep other people from speaking.

They had to call Doug Wilson first.

We have heard it said that “birds aren’t real”. I submit that mosquitos are actually spying on us all. Could be the government… could be space aliens. In any case look out fer these guys…

No truer words were ever spoken. Still photos have always been suspect, but we’re now going to have to give up the idea that a video = truth. And our side can’t be the one that uses this technology to lie about reality.

If I can’t tell the difference in the latest Sora-generated stuff after a career in visual arts and digital manipulation, then no one else can. There is no protection; the watermarks are too easily removed because the way we distribute video now has no real security features.

If Dems are branding ourselves as the party of truth vs. lies, then we absolutely cannot adopt this tech for our own uses, and we are going to have to be rigorous and careful about what we choose to re-post here from unknown sources. Fighting lies with lies never works. I just don’t know how we can ever prove what’s “true” anymore with this new tech.

Here’s one take on it, among others ringing alarm bells (free gifted link):

The screen is not the lived experience.

Or maybe it’s simply a supply-and-demand business.

Remember we still don’t know the extent of Epstein’s network.

On a lighter note, looks like ordinary proofreading has fallen victim in the haste to prosecute Comey. From a pleading filed in ED VA by The Imported Guys:

But perhaps Canada is now a state, and named “North Carolian,” and I just missed it.

True, and the map is not the territory, but once we get beyond our local scene that we can personally verify, we still have to know what’s going on nationally and in the wider world that isn’t available as lived experience.

It would be nice if our Congress wasn’t full of geriatrics on both sides who don’t have a clue how any of this works. Because without government controls, I don’t know how we get from here to a trustworthy media environment. We could be building in encrypted safeguards on original content, but for now the genie is out of the bottle, the horse has left the barn, and we’re screwed.

Antideficiency Act violations. This is a felony, punishable by fines and jail time.

Unconstitutionally taking money that the law says must be spent on one purpose & using it for something else—when it’s to establish personalist control over the FUCKING MILITARY—is about as dangerous a constitutional crisis/failure as you can imagine Via: www.nbcnews.com/politics/tru…

The Office of Management and Budget sent a notification to Congress about their intent to use research and development funds to pay members of the military, two sources with direct knowledge tell NBC News. A spokesperson for the OMB confirmed to NBC News that it plans to use the research and development funds and that there are two years' worth of funds available within the Department of Defense.

And on a darker note, some local press coverage of the ICE’s humiliating detention of a WGN (Chicago media outlet) director.

WGN employee detained amid ICE activity in Chicago, later released

Feds detain WGN-TV staffer, slam into resident’s car in Lincoln Square - Chicago Sun-Times

Sorry folks, but this happened about 10 blocks from Chez Thespian; I had been shopping nearby earlier in the day and, since I carry my phone and intend to capture ICE abuses if I see them, this could easily have been me (as I understand, she may have been inconveniently present when the InCEls apprehended a lawn and garden service worker). So, I’ve been a bit rattled.

Watch the videos in the links and imagine this happening to you, or in front of you as you’re walking to your car with the kale and Kettle chips (or whatever), or a few blocks away from your digs. I’m monitoring for updates from local sources.

ETA a propos of nothing, WGN is a CBS affiliate
