ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl’s upcoming book, “Betrayal,” reveals more eye-popping details on ex-Trump adviser Michael Flynn and his lawyer, Sidney Powell, urging the use of the U.S. military to steal the election for then-President Donald Trump–by going directly to the Defense Department and peddling wacky conspiracy theories about voter fraud.
Is there something wrong with that? Asking for a country…
Flynn And Powell Tried To Get DoD To Overturn Election
DoD doesn’t do batshit stupid unless it’s their own idea (eg. “We can still win in Afghanistan, never mind the past five, ten, fifteen years of results”)
This is why the Jan 6 committee wants Flynn to testify, he was right in the middle of all this stuff…and, he’s said he is happy to go in and talk to them, probably because he sees himself as a holy warrior on a mission who will vanquish the Democrats when they question him. Hopefully he does go in, and rants and raves about this stuff.
We’re going to get to the bottom of what happened eventually, but it’s already clear that there was a lot of maneuvering to try to get the military to overthrow the election and install Trump as president. Fortunately, our military is deeply infused with respect for the Constitution, and they recognize an illegal order even from the president…even if they all get replaced by a Republican president those further down the ranks won’t go along with an attempted coup, or murdering American citizens. Individual soldiers might, but the officers won’t…that may be critical in the future. Beyond that, we’re going to have to work to keep the Republicans out of power, and hope that the ongoing release of how bad things got will turn enough people away from the insurrectionists that we don’t have to worry constantly about an overthrow of the Constitution by Christian fascists.
The way I read the last part of the article is that Powell wanted the DoD to INVADE or otherwise perform and act of war against Germany.
I am curious is to what NATO’s requirements and actions would have been had we actually launched such an attack, sent in special forces.
An optimistic take, maybe, but heck, it will have to do.
Again what was Flynn’s brother role in all of this?

Anyway, it’s important to learn all that was going on with the military coup stuff floating around the WH, but I think it was just a sideshow that never ended up being seriously considered. Trump and the rest of his inner circle knew from General Milley’s statements that the Insurrection Act wasn’t going to work. The military wasn’t going to get involved in an illegal use of that act, regardless of Flynn’s fever dreams.
The plan they ended up with, and the one they may face conspiracy charges for, was the challenge of the EC count that hinged on Pence.
We’re going to find both Erik Prince and Roger Stone in on these circles of conspiracy, as well.
TWO Things long overdue:
1 / Sidney Powell needs to be disbarred in the states where she has standing.
2 / The military needs to post-hoc court martial Flynn for seditious activities in violation of the US Constitution.

Trump before the 2016 election complained about the election being rigged, and continued to complain about the election being rigged for a few weeks after he was sworn in, in Jan of 2017. Then he precedes to bring it up again during the 2020 campaign.
And yet “normal” Republicans did nothing, some went along to get along, but the ones who backed the myth are the dangerous ones. These people know it’s a lie, this is more than “wink, wink, nudge, nudge” complicity.
