In a discussion last December as to whether Putin, Trump or Xi fails to make it through 2026, my sense was that Putin would be the most likely to go. Xi’s health is classified, but he walks and talks normally. Trump is the oldest of the three, but has access to excellent doctors so I thought he had better chances over the medium term. Still this hand thing is worrisome.

I was asleep before he was finished rambling. I happened to have MSN?? on in my car when I was headed home from rehearsal. I counted six lies in under a minute and switched it to Symphony Hall…Tchaik 6th (the Pathetique Symphony) was playing. Not an awful performance, but not one I need to hear again. Unfortunately, I don’t know and can’t find out whose performance it was, so I can’t tell you not to bother.
On the other hand, that orchestral outpouring of uncontrolled emotion playing as an alternative to The Sick Fuck’s solipsism is evidence that I might have been wrong about the death of irony.
