Maybe President Donald Trump is calling his economy “The Golden Age” because it’s expensive. Over the last week, there’s been a barrage of data trickling out of the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau, a backlog of facts and figures after the longest U.S. government shutdown in history. The picture they paint, individually,…
Donnie lives in a fantasy “house of mirrors,” all of them smudged by his lies, bigotry, misogyny, and hatred.
MAGAnomics has turbocharged the K-shaped economy. There’s no way to hide how intentionally unfair GOP policies are for non-billionaires, so the only option for Trump is to turbocharge the racism, as well. But because Trump and his billionaire fan boys are ruled by their greed, the looting will accelerate, too.
“Companies are just stuck in neutral. They’re not hiring, they’re not building big factories. They’re just trying to ride this out.”
It’s what happens during times of chaos.
Chaos is the Republican Party’s platform, and right now chaos reigns supreme. Ask Mike Johnson.
some survey-based data and reports will never be published
“And they let you!”
Things aren’t really looking up. Despite the 119,000 new jobs added in September, according to the BLS, the employment report offers no bright spot for the future of hiring.
I don’t know where those new jobs came from unless they were uniquely seasonal. News like this:
And this:
And this:
are going to continue to ramp up to a point where the lies being told by the remaining agencies that are doing his bidding are finally going to be revealed as just that: lies.
Sure, they are major tech companies, but whenever they lay people off, there’s a trickle-down effect that impacts a whole bunch of other markets.
The minions are happy the big money is losing out here, but the campaign donations their party relies on will dry up if revenue is down. Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.
The only thing TrumPublicans have to sell is gaslight but in order to sustain that it is necessary to hide the real price so, for now, that mostly means no government stats (particularly where they contradict the gas) but later it will mean fake ones, like Hungary, Russia, and China et al.
The trajectory is predictable and the ability to resist it when the machinery of government itself has been seized is nearly impossible as we have seen, even with a government run by some of the most grossly incompetent individuals imaginable; government levers are powerful no matter whose hands pull them.
When those lies become published, the minions will have a tough time reconciling their immediate experience with the lies being published.
For example, they already know that food prices are way higher. Can they reconcile that truth with the BS that’s being published that inflation is only at 2%?
I’ve posted this before and will probably post it again. He’s out of his friggin’ mind. 25 47.
Probably not a significant “indicator”, but…
Every year, the USPS held a food drive here in town, putting marked plastic bags into every mailbox so people could load in various canned goods, boxed goods, etc. The mail carriers would then pick them up and take them to (I think) the Roadrunner Food Bank or other well known charity.
This year, there was nothing.
Golden Age? More like fool’s gold since he is a fool.
There is no way that lovely screed is not straight from the poison pen of Miller.
The earlier nonsense, where the First Felon rhapsodized about “that old fashioned word, ‘groceries’” was telling. This is a man who has probably never shopped for food, let alone been involved in its preparation. And, given that so many of his sheeple followers are old-fashioned men, single men, incel men … but you get the point; they, too probably haven’t done these things, either.
For Trump, it’s been being fed by his restaurant staff. He doesn’t even pay, not in a direct sense. For many maga-men, fast food, 7-11 snacks and the like probably make up much of their diets. Either that, or Mommy or the tradwife/girlfriend provides. So, not very close to “grocery stores.”
I hope this isn’t too bigoted a viewpoint. It could be.
“ non-compatible with Western Civilization:” causes me to ponder Jesus’ so-called Sermon on the Mount which, remarkably, advises non-compatibility with Western Civilization. Ruh roh….
“remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country” sounds like a call to impeach, remove from office, try and convict the Felon in Chief. He doesn’t think ahead much, does he?
A significant portion of the population is innumerate and incapable of making that connection or comparison.
The blackout of real economic figures and halt to the process of prying open the Epstein files made the shutdown a balm for the putrifying carcass of the Grand Old Party.
Now that is gone, the larvae are all hatching, the hyenas are circling, and it is only a matter of time before its bones start to bleach in the sunlight.
Two months? Three?
The judiciary and the military are restive, and the executive is finding itself increasingly hemmed in. I do hope that between retirements and defections the legislative branch can spring back to life soon.
Well, all I know is that grocery prices were outrageously expensive for TG. I purchased half a ham at HoneyBakedHam & it was $95, over $11/# the smoked turkey breast was $39. Then I spent another $210 at WalMart for sides, dessert ingredients, & fixins..I was blown away at how much prices had jumped. Typically, ham hocks, smoked turkey neck/wings are $3-5 dollars, they were $15!.
But what really got me was one of my favorite treats is chocolate covered almonds which I simply had to refuse to buy…unbelievably expensive.
