Vladimir Putin may yet expand his war against Ukraine, and it’s via a country you probably haven’t heard of.
And just like Russia was always going to turn to Moldova or some new victim after destroying and taking Ukraine, the GQP Trump KKKult doesn’t intend to stop once it has destroyed and taken all chance of Dem/liberal control. Anyone who thinks the disease isn’t progressive is a fool. The GQP will emulate Putin/Russia in every way and Putin/Russia are just emulating Hitler and the Nazis. Genocide is coming to this continent. Bank on it.
YOU ARE CORRECT …
Gen. Milley’s comments about time not being on Ukraine’s side must have been intended to justify an increase in US military support for Ukraine. Between sanctions and the mounting Russian death toll, I can’t see time being on Russia’s side, either. And Putin wants to expand it to Moldova?
I can’t help thinking that his quest for “Greater Russia” is going to end up turning it into a vassal state of China.
Putin wishes he had that much hair…
If you can’t beat Ukraine, might as well take on Transnistria. If that fails, maybe Lichtenstein could be toppled.
Super power, my arse.
Kill. Vladimir. Putin.
It’s Transistria, little-known in part because it barely exists.
Barely exists??! Its transistors are vital for all post-war PCB technology, and its unobtanium mines supply semi-conductors for half-orchestras all around the world. Without Transistria, you wouldn’t even make it to the third movement of a Tchaikovsky symphony, or have a radio to listen with.
I think this is one more instance of saber-rattling, making faces and yelling “Boo” at the west. Putin, Lavrov, other officials, their mouthpieces in the Russian media, all of them are making these very aggressive noises and yet as far as stuff actually happening, it doesn’t. The arms flow, heavier all the time, and the noose tightens. I’m not ready to run in circles over “Transnistria.”
Russia, are you listening?
It would take about an hour to wipe out the Russians now in Transnistria. And it’s highler unlikley Russia can attack it from where it is near Kherson. They have yet to take Mariupol and Kharkiv after months of fighting. What a hollow threat,
Putin is a danger to the entire world.
He is trying to provoke the end of mankind and most life on Earth.
Drop the mike
Thank you for posting the informative link and map (which should have been included in the original article).
The interesting thing about Transnistria is that it’s stuck in a Soviet time-warp. It literally looks like a cold war era Warsaw Pact state, complete with a hammer-and-sickle on the flag and all the old statues still standing. If not for the geo-political reality of the situation it could be turned into weird tourist destination.
It’s not on Ukraine’s side, either. Russia refocusing on the east/southeast and their willingness to go slaughtering civilians means Ukraine’s facing piecemeal extermination. Every day makes it worse, and means there’s a harder recovery, and fewer people to do the recovering.
The longer this goes, the more this whole thing becomes a Pyrrhic pyre1, no matter who technically ‘wins’
1. Which is a fun pairing of words, as Pyrrhic, obviously, derives from a man’s name, Pyrrhus, and alludes to the total dumpster fire his victories against Rome were… but his name, Pýrrhos in the original Greek, means ‘red haired’ or ‘flame colored’… which means a Pyrrhic pyre leaves us with the concept of a fire-themed dumpster fire of a funerary fire. Hot time in the old town tonight, I guess?
Yes please. Yes please. Can we just do it? And if not why not? It solves so much…
Russia’s foreign minister has warned Western powers not to underestimate the “real” risk of nuclear conflict if they continue to funnel weapons to Ukraine in what he says is an undeclared proxy war.
Within hours of his remarks, explosions were heard inside the sovereign borders of Moldova. Ukrainian officials believe Russia is launching “false flag” operations in the pro-Russian rebel-controlled enclave of Transnistria in order to justify widening their imperial assault into a second nation.
I’ve spent some time in Moldova. My impression at the time was that Transnistria was basically accepted as the cousin that got dropped on his head. Bear in mind that Moldova - the poorest country in Europe - doesn’t have a lot of places to feel superior to, so Transnistria has to do.
So you’re saying he’s fighting global warming? (Sorry, couldn’t help it)
