This is what Michael Cohen told the congress. “You will go down like I did…”
You can’t just point to your forehead. If you want to look like a brainiac, you have to to actually touch your glasses to push them back up. So I applaud his intention, but his execution is off.
This is why it is entirely true when Donald Trump claims that he “drained the swamp.” He had to drain the swamp in order to reach the monsters at the bottom of the swamp before he could appoint them to positions of power within his “administration”…
It isn’t that hard to come up with hypotheses, based on the most probable assumptions given the empirically well-established General Theory of Trumpativity.
Principle #1: it’s (almost) always about money.
Principle #2: it’s (almost) always about Russia.
Josh has started the dig into #2. Now #1 is emerging from the fog. All that remains is the basic principle of narrative construction in the geometry of Trump space, which is (almost) entirely projective.
Principle #3. If Trump attributes X to an enemy, he’s doing X and trying to distract from it.
Yes, Trump and his teammates are deeply interested in … corruption. Now let’s see how the dynamics play out.
However, Parnas and Fruman’s lawyer John Dowd did comment. Naftogaz executives approached his clients about a deal, not the other way around, he asserted, adding, “It wasn’t a shakedown; it was an attempt to do legitimate business that didn’t work out.”
Let’s see … do we believe John Dowd?
The glasses don’t make Rick Perry look smarter; he makes the glasses look dumber.

Borowitz as usual - Nails it
Wait, there’s more going on in Ukraine than just the attempt to get fake investigations of political opponents going? There’s also an attempt to take over Ukrainian LNG production by Trump associates in Texas? And how far does this spread, both in and beyond Ukraine? Seems like another thread to pull…
Trump is unintentionally flushing corrupt players out into the open.
+1 from a higher-education professional in W TX. Perry is scum.
I started my comments up above on this thread saying they should have made clear that Chump is the Big Kahuna in this story, not Perry or Ghoulzie or his putzes.
I should have also said I was glad to see the deeper dive by TPM on this…even though they seem to be very careful about not claiming Chump is looking for ways to profit from these dealings. I don’t think the press hounding Perry or Ghoulzie is hitting the nail on the head…but with those two imbeciles and Ghoulzie’s addiction to TV…he could be on Fox screaming that:
“there is nothing wrong with the President swinging extortion Petro deals with Putin. I did not say it was OK. I didn’t say he did it. What I said was, if he did it, there is nothing wrong with that. Mommy!”
Here is the last paragraph or two from Josh Kovensky’s piece
Parnas’ and Fruman’s business angle appears to have been to find a way to replace Ukraine’s central European gas providers with American ones, using their political clout in the form of Perry and Giuliani to have a stake in the deal.
Chow, the regional energy expert, told TPM that the deal did not make sense, in part because they appeared to lack the necessary “political protection” that one needs to operate in Ukraine, and in part because of limits that the country’s infrastructure imposes on LNG imports.
“This is what they claim; but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense,” he said. “So I wonder if that’s just a cover for what they are really up to.”
I say, maybe we should let Chump do whatever he wants over there. Keep him busy, and lord knows he will bring the whole F’ing place down around their heads. Putin, he’s all yours. Just take him away please.
Children everywhere are now going to say the Rick Perry made them do it.
I am glad for the Warren family that the story is satire. On the other hand, a true version of the story would not shock me at all. So sad.
"That is fiction being pushed by those who are disingenuously seeking to advance a nefarious narrative that does not exist.”
Err, if it doesn’t exist, how can it be a narrative? Or nefarious for that matter?
Perry must have taken off his “smart glasses” when he said that.
Lots of great snark here today, but this is FTW.
which of the 38 pockets of lies on the fascistgop’s roulette wheel will their next defense come from. I’m putting my money on 00.
I’m betting on: “It was a JOKE!”
Alternatively: “ You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."
Seems like Trump is setting up Perry to be the fall guy. I had my money on Pompeo.
