Five Points On How Intelligence And Military Officials Testified To The Failures Of Jan. 6 | Talking Points Memo

With time, the scale of the intelligence and security failures that allowed an angry mob of Trump supporters to breach the Capitol on Jan. 6 becomes clearer and clearer.

Obviously, the military was ordered to stand down. Optics my ass.
Get Ryan McCarthy to testify under oath. See him plead the fifth.

Walker returned to a central theme: unprecedented new restrictions that the TRUMP Pentagon placed on his ability to react prevented him from responding to the calamity unfolding at the Capitol.

TRUMP Officials Missed The Broader Threat Of Right-Wing Terrorism In The United States

Too many reality-based people running around with all those pesky questions being raised.

That pretty much summons it up. Since the traitor generals weren’t about to hand Trump the presidency, then they were ordered to stand out of the way of the true patriots Proud Boys and Oathkeepers.

Politico has a great timeline…the pentagon , which includes the “sec of non-defense” said it takes time, meaning almost 4 hours to get troops ready…gen of national gaurd sez he had troops on buses before the breech . took only 10 minutes once he got the ok…clearly US senior command including gen flynn have already chosen sides…

An Orwell award goes out snoopes.com claiming that ORDERING the national guard NOT to wear helmets and carry no batons and take no action without permission ISN"T disarming them …??

that’s greatest dive ever taken, well done!

Get Hawley under oath, too.

So who actually told them not to cooperate? It feels like there is a missing link still.

Its just a matter of time now isn’t it ?..the generals will learn from this,

now that its clear the GOP will follow and excuse any pro-GOP military (enabled) coup … seriously what’s are the odds for democracy?

He tapped into a real trend in the hearing: officials consistently fell back on claiming that right-wing extremism constituted some kind of new, unprecedented threat. In reality, it’s been killing Americans for decades.

“Do tell.”

ETA: Eight federal agents died in the Murrah Building bombing; you’d think they might have slightly longer memories than were on display at the hearing.

Miller sec of defense…he just disarmed them and stalled…he probably only sent troops in once it was clear the mob had failed to kill elected officials

Optics, schmoptics. The Jan 4 order was essential to the coup preparation. It was a STAND DOWN order. Didn’t Republicans used to have a big problem with a (nonexistent) stand down order when it (didn’t) happen in Benghazi? People need to be jailed or court martialed for this.

And I still suspect that Miller signed the stand down order but Kash Patel wrote it. No proof, just seeing a pattern of behavior.

Big deal. We already know that oaths mean nothing to Hawley.

The D.C. commander added that he hadn’t seen requirements like those imposed on him for the Jan. 6 response in 19 years of service.

I was going to respond to this and how it almost feels like this was planned then I read #3.

Warner noted that the missteps which led to Jan. 6 stand in for a broader problem in the intelligence community and federal law enforcement: the failure to reckon with the scale of the threat posed by far-right extremism.

WTF! During the Bush years there was a push by right wing extremists to infiltrate the military and police forces around the country for training purposes to prepare for their hoped civil war. This has been a not so secret secret for 15-20 years. For the past decade right wing extremists have been MORE dangerous than any other ideology in this country. Another, not so secret secret. This is a laughable excuse until you realize that it all comes down to racism. These guys in tactical gear, armed to the teeth with Celtic cross tattoos and Death’s Head emblems on their shirts have been ignored, NOT MISSED, because they are white.

I have two words for these myopic officials: Oklahoma City.

I have two more words for them: Timothy McVeigh.

And finally, for everyone I have two more words and an image: Baylee Almon

Right-wing terrorists? Never heard of them.

Trump did not miss the broader threat of right-wing terrorism in the United States.

Rather, Trump WAS and IS the threat of right-wing terrorism in the United States.
