As summer gives way to fall, the Supreme Court’s new term is upon us. The batch of arguments scheduled so far start October 3 and stretch through early November.
There is but one certainty: the right wing supermajority will inevitably do the wrong thing on all issues, and forcibly impose the GOP’s dogma on our country. The only mystery is how and to what extent? Will the Court’s extremists wield a hatchet or a scalpel?
After last term it’s likely to be a guillotine, since their radicalism knows no bounds.
Looks like the Neanderthal wing of the SCOTUS has teed up an opportunity to turn the calendar back to 1850 when white landed gentry owned and controlled everything.
The scalpel was ostensibly Roberts’s preferred approach, which is in line with traditional conservatism, but Roberts is no longer a required vote for the Court to dismantle everything from the New Deal forward. He acknowledged his surrender when he wrote a separate opinion in Dobbs, concurring in the result but lamenting the sledge hammer approach. Whether the decisions are 6-3, with or without a concurring opinion from Roberts, or 5-4 in the most egregious cases, is irrelevant to anything other than how the history books treat the emasculated CJ.
If Robert’s really wanted to get control back at the court, he’d have to release the findings of the Dobbs Leak investigation during the J6 hearings as Ginny’s anti-democracy antics are on display, because we all know that Thomas shared with Ginny the opinion so she could leak it.
This might embarrass Thomasthe Federalist Society enough to force his resignation.
Robert’s would still be Cheif of a 5-4 court, but back in the driver’s seat.
I hate to introduce a ray of sunshine in my usual off-topic fashion but JFC the Ukrainians are cutting the Russkies to ribbons. We haven’t seen anything like it in our lifetimes.
If our corrupted scotus uses its decisions this term to aggressively promote the agenda of their federalist society sponsor it will hopefully spur the administration and senate to expand the court. We simply cannot leave the nation’s future in the hands of an ideological court drenched in trumpstank.
Anything’s possible; the question is usually what’s probable. And Strzok isn’t one of us wild-eyed rumormongers. He takes note of facts like that for a living.
