Five Arguments The Far Right Has Marshaled To Defend Putin

As war in Ukraine looks increasingly likely, the standard-bearers of the far right are tripping over themselves to express their admiration of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and to otherwise defend his unprovoked menacing of the country.

The lesson they learned from the Cold War was Get Money.

Sounds like giving aid and comfort to our enemies.

Are they a little stupid or is treason acceptable to own the Libs? Also, most of their reasoning is helpful to the petroleum industry. Bolton and Rove revise history as if they had nothing to do with any of this for the past 25 or 30 years. The alternate universe, man’s final frontier.
Looks like we’re in a Cold War again, so if you give Russia aid and comfort what does that make you?

“If Putin wants to throw some cold water on American expansionism and interventionism, for whatever reason, that’s a good thing,”

Wait. We can be wrong?!? What is this America hatred, this America last foreign policy?!?

If they keep this up, before nightfall they’ll acknowledge that racism exists.

Anyone else feel this is TFG trying to show Putin that he’s still relevant and heaping praise on him in an attempt to have the troll farms ramp up efforts in HIS favor to get him back in the White House and to avoid prosecution?

How many times have we heard this before?

Ukraine Is Not Worth Defending

Which is what a lot of the original America Firsters were no doubt saying about Czechoslovakia in 1938.

I’m not sure how we come back from this Republican disloyalty to America. Heather Cox Richardson put it this way:

"Putin and his fellow oligarchs have amassed power thanks to the financial laxness of western democracies, which their money has helped to destabilize. With Putin’s attack on the international rule of law today, challenging western nations to stop him, Edward Luce of the Financial Times identified the larger picture: “Cannot be stated strongly enough,” he wrote. “If the west—chiefly America, but also Britain—doesn’t burn its financial ties to Russia’s oligarchy then Putin will prevail. This means taking on Wall Street, the City, law firms[,] realtors, the prep schools and western laundering outfits.”

I’m not sure we do come back from this. Though Biden does seem to understand this issue and is working to try to correct it. Perhaps this invasion is an opportunity to flush our system of corrupt Russian money.

From another recent TPM posting. No Republican should be allowed to speak on any topic without being asked whether they agree with Trump’s comments regarding Putin’s invasion of the Ukraine. If they want any mass media access, they should be forced to answer and defend this simple question. Enough already. It’s called accountability. What do we all say? Let’s bring it back and make it front and center for any Republican politician, at any level of responsibility. Based on recent rumors, this should most definitely include Senator Graham (and add Pence and McConnell to this short list). Make them answer the question. It’ll be their moment.

Same goes for all right-wing pundits. Get them on the record and immediately fact check everything they spew.

When you read a collection of right wing B.S. of this sort, the term “Fox Propaganda Channel” doesn’t seem the least bit over the top. Is it just me, or does it look as if these folks have gone even further off of the deep end since Trump lost.

It’s a fine line they are treading, especially if they start killing a lot of Ukrainians. Thanks to the media that has been the ruination of this country, however, many will not even know it if it happens. But then it will all be a hoax, of course.

Now that would really fuck up Fat Donnie. His entire net worth and self worth is derived from laundering illegal Russian money and pretending he’s a super genius who made it all on his own.

Attack Canada? Really?

Now that is one freak show the GQP has going on.

I actually agree with this, but I am a well known America hater.

similar to Ukraine, Canada is not a real country anyway. it is the responsibility of a great power to subsume and guide these quasi countries.

There is this little bit of Russia just south of Lithuania on the Baltic. It contains the city of Kaliningrad. But it’s cut off from the rest of Russia because part of the Baltic States and Belarus are in the way. I bet’cha Putin is thinking of a corridor to that bit just as much as he desires a connection to Crimea via the coast of the Sea of Azov thru the city of Maripol. I bet that if the Russians push into Maripol there will be street fighting and a lotta death and destruction.

Ah, fully understand now, our world view should the same as Putin’s.

Ok, really does make total sense as a GQP policy.
