It is, and I think a lot of the factors you could list as contributing to it haven’t been widely recognized yet. It’s like Trump’s election that way, and just as shocking. That said, we have a long, long history of doing self-destructive stuff.

I hate the Rs super majority in the General Assembly here, we had this under control with Gov. Beshear and they’re doing everything they can to chain him down and let freedumb ring putting KY’s children and all of us at great risk.

Rogan said after the treatment he felt “pretty fucking good.”
Therefore, Rogan concluded to guest Tom Segura , ivermectin worked.

I saw a news item that the reality wasn’t reflecting a similar threat among NYC cops. Very foolish of Portland to cave. Most cops aren’t giving up their gravy train.

I think a big part of it that goes unrecognized is that many of the anti-vax and anti-mask crowd are fairly young, like that guy being escorted out in cuffs in the header image. Maybe in his 30’s? At that age, most people think they’re immortal, that death and disease will never touch them. I know I felt that way too until I got up into my 60’s.
When you think you don’t have to take death and disease seriously, it makes it easier to just go with your political/tribal beliefs and ignore public health measures like vaccines and masks. And of course a school board meeting is going to select for parents of a certain age range. The only person in my extended family who is anti-vax is in their late 30s, a health and fitness nut who thinks they’re going to live forever.

Just asking questions about the vaccine but perfectly happy to (supposedly, my basic belief with this guy is that he’s a lying liar) take lots of unproven remedies and also a treatment that is still under EUA.

From the time I was 10 till the end of the Soviet era, in my late thirties, I was terribly afraid of everyone dying in a nuclear holocaust. I took duck and cover to heart. Scared shitless.

It’s a scene we’ve watched play out in school board meeting rooms across the country since the beginning of August — and the backlash from anti-vax and anti-mask parents has become increasingly violent in recent weeks as more and more students are forced to quarantine over COVID exposure in mask-optional school districts.
What better way for responsible parents to show their children that when you can’t get what you want, violence is the answer.
