Just ban all private gun ownership, enforced only by private citizens in civil court with a bounty of $10,000. How could the Supreme Court even judge that when nobody has standing, am i rite?
First Major Second Amendment Case Before Supreme Court In Over A Decade Could Topple Gun Restrictions
…and in a tom lehrer-esqe riff, we, punctuate this day with another Texas school mass shooting.
I’m sure the Founding Fathers imagined Proud Boys, Three Percenters, Dylan Harris, Eric Kleebold, etc., all going to their militia meetings or whatever packing weapons like AK-47 and AR-15s. That must be what they meant by “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State”. Isn’t it obvious?
Is America ready to be safer with even more guns?
'murica! Fuck yeah!!
!celebratory gunfire!
Ooops
Pretty clear where this will end up (removal of the NY limitations, more gunhumping, more avoidable deaths)
Writing for the majority, the late Justice Antonin Scalia declared that the “central component” of the Second Amendment was not a “well regulated Militia,” but rather “the inherent right of self-defense.”
What’s that, you say? Noted strict constructionist and textualist Scalia sidestepped the plain text of the Constitution and found a defense written nowhere in that document? Why, that is quite the scho … ZZZZZZZZZ!
Just to be clear, I agree that self defense is an inherent right, but self defense can be found in preventative measures, such as requiring firearms bearers to be well regulated per the plain text of the Constitution in 1-8 and 2-2 regarding the Militia. We have far more gun deaths than successful instances of self defense, so the wingnut math is pretty fucked from the get go.
Yeah, I never quite got the leap from “self-defense” to “owning lots of guns.” How many of those gun-owners end up hurting themselves or their families with their weapons (accidents, bad aim, someone else takes it and shoots it at them, suicide–the list goes on)? Wouldn’t a more effective form of self-defense actually, you know, be something that is fundamentally defensive, like a shield, or armor? Guns are self-offensive… or to be more simple about it, just offensive.
I think we are going to evolve into being made out of guns.
The most violent society on the planet should develop, produce, and distribute ever more powerful guns to sell individually or in bulk to people in my neighborhood. Republicans promise.
If you favor outside guns in your neighborhood, vote Republican. If not, vote Democratic. Doesn’t matter which one. We weed out the bad ones.
Now, back to the news…
Another mass shooting in a Texas school today…
William Westmoreland once said, of the Vietnamese, “The Oriental doesn’t put the same high price on life as does the Westerner. … Life is plentiful, life is cheap in the Orient.” What with 700k+ dead from COVID, so many gun deaths a year that nobody dares to count them accurately, and all to a collective shrug, that seems like a bit of American projection.
Only if you’re of the right caliber.
I’m late… aw shoot.
I’ve got it! Arm all vaccinated people with COVID vaccines and syringes and allows us to exercise “the inherent right of self-defense” by shooting the unvaccinated. It could be argued as standing one’s ground.
Let’s see the Supreme Court argue itself out of that one.
I’m late…
You’re fired!
You triggered your discharge.
You’re fired!
You triggered your discharge.
At some point, things are gonna backfire.
William Westmoreland once said, of the Vietnamese, “The Oriental doesn’t put the same high price on life as does the Westerner. … Life is plentiful, life is cheap in the Orient.”
It was a very long time ago now, but I remember a documentary playing that clip while also showing a Vietnamese mother mourning her dead child. The mother was completely devastated, and had to be carried away.
Yeah, we really were the baddies in that one…

Hell, I’d be good with giving every vaccinated person a tazer - if they come in contact with a COVIDiot, they can zap away. Consider it “Grounding one’s stand”…
Consider it “Grounding one’s stand”…
this joke has zero potential.
