Fiona Hill Recalls Pigtails On Fire | Talking Points Memo

Fiona Hill is one tough cookie and from the hair on fire story, it sounds like she was born that way. She should give lessons to the Repukes on the committee about putting out your hair when it is on fire, they are going to need it after this week.

I prefer that she keeps setting their hair on fire with her testimony. Loved her destruction of Republican talking points on Ukraine meddling in our election.

She’s both steely and fiery.

This is the current first paragraph from Fiona Hill’s Wikipedia bio:

Fiona Hill (born October 1965) is a British-born American foreign affairs specialist and certified bad ass. She is a former official at the National Security Council specializing in Soviet, Russian and European affairs.

Oddly, for Wikipedia, there’s no source cited for the bad-ass certification. I’m guessing it was a general observation from her testimony?

“big tails”

What is it with TPM’s frequent mangling of quotes? A few days ago it was “reign your people in.”

Transcription errors from voice recognition software, maybe? I don’t know for sure, but that’s what it looks like and what I’ve been assuming.

The Rest of The Story is that later that day she beat the snot out of the little arsonist.

Yeah? What about her favorite cookie recipes? Have the Republicans forgotten how to question a female witness?

45* needs to purchase an expensive dog so he can give a humanizing ‘Checkers’ speech during that fireside chat he promised us.

The “and certified bad ass” bit was undone. If I read the page revision list correctly, that bit was up for less than a minute.

I would never do that to a dog, although I’m sure he would have people to deal with it.

No animal deserves to be that family’s pet. But I see him getting it just for show after consultation with his staff, then handing it off to a secretary after his tremendous heartwarming speech. I mean, if Nixon tried it, so should he.

Doubtful that transcription software made this error — such programs utilize statistics such as word frequency and context. “Rain” would probably have been the guess of a transcription program because it is far more widely used than “rein” or “reign” (all homophones — words which sound alike).

This was far more likely to be human.

I noted several years ago that TPM, and especially Josh himself, are prone to homophone errors. I guessed then that the culprit might be dictation software. Still seems that way.
