Even with the filibuster gone, the senate would still favor the minority because all states get 2 senators whether they’re Wyoming or California. It takes a minority of voters to elect a GOP-led senate. The real problem isn’t the filibuster, but the senate itself. If enough Dem voters move from red to blue states, game’s over, we’re done.

That is how the filibuster operated at that time. Talk and more talk and talk some more. These days it has been subverted into minority rule requiring 60 votes to agree to be able to vote on a bill. That’s fucked up on its face.

Their confidence in Democrats’ self-limiting was surely only strengthened by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s comments Tuesday about President Joe Biden’s enduring support of the filibuster, even in the face of the debt ceiling fight.
“The President’s position has not changed on that,” she said.
This is a potential midterm problem.
