"After much prayer over the past few days and following conversations with my wife, Gina, during that time, I have decided that my current term will be my last.”

Between the mass shootings and the retirements, the whole state of Texas must be on its knees.

Or dead.

It’s a shame that nobody wants to bribe members of congress that are in the minority forcing them to leave office to make ends meet… there ought to be a law…

TX-17 is Trump Country. It’s almost entirely rural/small town, with a gerrymandered slice of the north Austin suburbs thrown in for the sake of denying Austin any representation by a Democrat. Flores beat his Dem opponent by ~16 points in 2018. This seat will not flip. Flores is retiring because it sucks to be in the minority, not because he is worried about an opponent.

Trump likes everything to be about him.

Well, it IS, isn’t it?

Slightly off topic, but I saw some dumbass on Twitter recently make the point that if Texas somehow turns blue in 2020 we’ll immediately start hearing Democrats change their tune and sing the praises of the electoral college.

That rather conveniently ignores that if Texas were to turn blue, we would also almost certainly be looking at a huge popular vote rout…

I was going to send thoughts, but it might be too startling for him.

He forgot to add that he needs to spend more time with his family.

No it’s because internal polling probably shows that you will lose your seat…

I don’t disagree at all, What I would like to point out is that, after Gingrich, being a minority member of Congress got much worse.

I keep hearing this mentioned, and then I wonder why these Congress critters never thought the day would come when they’d be in the minority.
Is the state of Texas and the Texas Republican Party big enough to absorb all these retiring Congress critters?
And speaking of retiring Congress critters from Texas whatever happened to pajama boy?

What Texas big time donor took him in out of pity?
