Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman easily won the Democratic primary to be U.S. senator for Pennsylvania Tuesday night, an open seat Democrats see as one of their best pickup opportunities.
I don’t live in PA so I don’t have direct skin in that game. I would have preferred Conor Lamb to go up against the GOP candidate. Having said that, anyone (or thing) gets my support against the Rethugs. If he can win, fine.
To be very honest with you, darr, I don’t see him as having a lot of appeal in different parts of the State. Sure, in the more urban areas, he’s probably a lock. But, going out to the rural areas, trying to court some Indies, I don’t see “criminal justice reform, marijuana legalization” as getting a lot of traction outside of the cities. Who knows? We’ll see…
Connor Lamb is a great guy and he was well situated to hold a r leaning seat. He threw that all away by trying to run for senate, which illustrates that he isn’t really in it to achieve results for the people rather than further his own ambitions. The people in PA do not want Joe Manchin light. Fetterman will do very well with rural, more working class voters, because he looks and speaks like them and he shows up to talk. If you think marijuana legalization will be the thing that turns off voters in the rural areas you are not paying attention, they use at the same rates as urban populations. Fetterman also has a secret weapon, his wife Giselle. She will be a formidable force on the campaign trail- in person and on the socials.
Sorry, I’m not convinced that marij. legalization is going to be primary or even secondary on the minds of folks living out in the rural areas. And the wife is not the candidate. Having said that, the governor’s house looks to be safely Dem.
I think that was a forgone conclusion. However there is joy in Mudville. With over 95% of the vote in it seems Cawthorn is mathematically eliminated. Oz is down too.
“…despite some Democrats’ preference for the cleaner-cut Lamb.”
This kind of one-dimensional dumbassery reminds me of the imbecile baseball scouts in “Moneyball” staring straight ahead like deer staring down an oncoming train while Brad Pitt as Billy Bean just ignored their fossilized stupidity. And you want to continue to argue that the Democrats aren’t 50% of the problems we face?
