Fetterman Jumps Into Absentee Ballot Case, Saying That ‘Thousands’ Of Valid Votes Will Be Tossed

The campaign for John Fetterman, Pennsylvania’s lieutenant governor and the Democratic nominee for Senate, jumped into the dispute over counting undated or incorrectly dated absentee ballots currently roiling the commonwealth’s highest court.

This is where we are. It’s absolutely necessary to make this fight as this is the perfect example of "democracy dies in darkness’. I would expect no less from Fetterman.

If anything, this will increase Democratic enthusiasm in PA and across the country.

Look: we know the GOP will be invigorated
Because they laugh at Fair Play

We know that we will be invigorated
Because we want Fair Play

“The Third Circuit found that the date provision violated the Materiality Provision of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits the use of pointless, technical requirements to void otherwise valid votes.”

GOP Logic:

  • Everybody gets a gun? Saves lives.

  • Everybody gets a vote? Kills America.

The whole controversy is total bullshit. Not much we can do about the GOP Judiciary in PA.

We would all be millionaires if we had a nickel for every Civil Rights flick we ever saw featuring bigoted people denying the vote to targeted individuals.

Most people would leave the theater with admiration for the victims.

Why is this any different in 2022?

Just deactivated my Twitter account after 12 years of active use. I wasn’t on any social media prior and my wife thought that was ridiculous. There will certainly be things I will miss but it became something different than originally intended – which was to focus on my professional field. The signal to noise ratio had become overwhelmingly lopsided to noise.

I see now I can still access people and lists through my browser (if you saved the address) so I’m not entirely in the dark on people I want to check in on.

Looking forward to exploring other avenues of information gathering. It will probably be enlightening. I’ll be here more for one.

John’s auditory processing may need continued effort for recovery, but his political instincts are still spot on.

I handed my ballot in on 10/24 (early voting in AZ). Too bad i cannot vote for Hobbs again.

I understand the PA SC has overturned that decision and every vote WILL be counted.

Day after tomorrow, there will most likely be a plea to SCOTUS, where we will see what’s the future of free and unfettered elections in the US.

Feels like voting is already “fettered”. I had to show ID and i made sure they witnessed me signing the affidavit spot on our inner envelope

All they did when I handed mine in is point to each entry on the envelope that needed to be filled in.

Then they sent me on my way.

I show my passport card because it doesn’t actually prove my residency. The fact I’m registered does that.

I got asked once if I had my license to match the address I said that I did have my license, but since the passport card is a valid ID per NH voter ID law and I’m registered that there wasn’t need.

The UN (Yes, we have them) observer wrote a note…

After today…the Starting Block is Tomorrow…where all the rest of us vote for Democrats for all of the positions for which they are competing.

Yeah…I know the above looks childish…but a hoopster would say, “leave it all on the court”

And maybe someone else would say. “Please do all you can. Our Way of Life hangs in the Balance

Deactivated mine this morning. I had left it dormant since Sleazy E took over but seeing his full GOP endorsement is the last straw.

One of my state Rep candidates came down my street this weekend saying hi to all the folks out doing yardwork (was 75 degrees in NH in Nov, everyonewas out).

I shook his hand, told him I already voted for him in the primary and I will vote for him by 8 am Tuesday and sent him on his way so he had time to get to as many folks as possible, I’d have loved to chat with him more but prefer he get to chatting with the folks that need more convincing.

A united nations observer? Why is that? I dont doubt you but could you explain why that is?

Clearly, a good guy with a vote can’t stop a bad guy with a gun. :frowning:

It’s not just Democrats who are making mistakes or omitting the unnecessary date on the outer envelope.
