FEMA Admin On Supply Shortages | Talking Points Memo

when I was 20 or 21, me and my best friend decided Stupid Fucker was the worst put down we could concoct. Not the most ingenious, not the most scintillating descriptor…it just seemed to land with the most satisfactory THUD on the recipient.

The national stockpile is only meant to bridge the gap between a huge surge in demand, and more supply becoming available because of a surge in production. Sort of like how a battery backup only needs to work until the emergency generators kick in. These incompetent assholes have not yet done a thing to kick production into gear (beyond some press conferences divorced from action).

In that context, his claim that they’re “prepared to run the stockpile to zero”, if need be, are not reassuring

Edited to add: oops, wasn’t meant to be a reply to your good post! Was supposed to be standalone

They’ve been on the case for five whole days now?

“It is a dynamic and fluid operation,” Gaynor said.

I think this adequately describes the verbal diarrhea being spewed at T rumpp’s daily pressers.

Heckuva job, asshole.

Aside from the usual nonsense and dipshittery, he’s mostly been passing the buck to private industry and giving “attaboys” to FedEx, Elon Musk and General Motors for dealing with the crisis.

Like I said my opinion I take it you don’t live here on the east coast.

Is that how the republicans are re-branding trickle-down theory…

It must be good news that Trumps offered to help Iran and North Korea.

The very worst way to deal with this pandemic, from an epidemiological POV, is for people with few or no symptoms, but with history of contact with those who have it, to NOT get tested. That’s precisely the opposite of what’s needed. Mapping the virus and its expansion through aggressive testing and enforced self-quarantine is the only way out that doesn’t result in …Italy.

South Korea flattened the curve by testing at 15 times the infection rate. We’re doing about 8 times the rate in the US, and, in NYC, we’re doing 4.5x. That’s not nearly good enough, we’re just gonna keep losing ground.

South Korea managed to quickly rustle up 250,000 tests in a country with just 55million people, and in a couple of weeks. We’re struggling to get over 200,000 for 330 million people, when we’ve had 2 months to prepare now? WTF

NYC has so few masks, gloves, tests, etc. that it’s had to triage people with mild, yet telltale symptoms (forgetaboutit if you have no symptoms and your whole family has the disease–no test for you). Senators having the foresight (based on Gov briefings) to dump stocks in early Feb based on the coming economic tsunami, yet talking no action to avoid a tsunami that actually kills thousands (millions?) of people is beyond inexcusable

There will be plenty to choose from. Power or internet outages, other health infrastructure failures and catastrophes, China or Russia deciding this is the time to launch armies or bombs, etc. Chump would be glad of something that isn’t PURELY his fault to publicize.

“It is a dynamic and fluid operation,” Gaynor said.

In other words, they’re spewing this crap out of their asses just as fast as they can.

Mr. FEMA dude,

The correct answer to these questions is:

“While I don’t have the most current totals with me, I can tell you that as of my last briefing on XXX-day, we had shipped XXX masks.”

There is no other correct answer, all others are lies and cover-ups.

Luvs,

America

They’ve successfully delivered over 2,800,000 tons of bullshit.

“if you have symptoms, go get a test,” Gaynor said. “If you don’t need a test because you don’t have symptoms, don’t do it.”

Uh huh. And if you’ve been exposed to a known carrier, no reason to get a test, right? Riiiiight.

“millions of things are being shipped”

Yeah, sure. No clue as to what “things”, or where they’re going - is anything actually being “shipped”?

“five days ago”

I strongly doubt this timeline, too, given everything else this admin has lied about. I’m guessing the reporter’s questions were the first time Gaynor has even thought about it.

We now know that Trump basically invoked the National Wartime Production Act thing so he could claim he’s a “Wartime Prezident!!”, and hasn’t used it to facilitate a thing since. Like Guilani and his team of “Amigos” told the Ukrainians, it’s the announcement that Trump wants.

The dimmest of the dim. It’s time for a contest. Rump can isolate himself from participation because we already know that there is no there there. Ditto for Pence, Pompeo and the rest of the cabinet as well as people like Seema Verma (I’m still trying to avoid calling her Seema Vermin–whoops) who have already proved their idiocy and ignorance while kneeling in front of and praising Rump. Now it’s time for the next level down. This guy seems like a real player in the contest. Maybe we can call it the Michael Brown Award. Other suggestions?

I’m wondering whether he doesn’t know the number because he’s an incompetent grifter, does know the number and doesn’t want to report it because it’s ridiculously low, or has gone out of his way to have his subordinates not tell him any numbers.

This isn’t “gosh, I put the package in the UPS box and now it’s their problem level.” This is multiple truckloads going out from facilities. Something you can’t avoid noticing.
