Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has directed the Census Bureau to prepare to offer states the data they’d need to do a redistricting overhaul that would boost “Republicans and Non-Hispanic Whites,” in the words of a deceased GOP consultant.

As if the gerrymandering wasn’t extreme enough already.
Pure coincidence of course that SCOTUS has refused to dirty its fingers by interfering in the redistricting process. Every day our democratic republican form of government is under attack. Let’s hope there are a few honest jurists left in our system who will put a stop to this chicanery.
The Constitution does say the entire population is to be counted and that it be used for apportionment.

But its relatively silent on how each individual state creates Representative districts. And that is where Ross is aiming this.
That being said, rumors are already floating that Trump is unhappy with Ross because of the loss and he may not be long for the administration anyway.
It will be interesting to see how the Court of “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges" reconciles “Representatives shall be apportioned among the several states according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each state” with its heart felt desire to “Equaliz[e] districts based on CVAP, rather than people.” I remember hearing something in my grammar school history class about the Revolutionary War and taxation without representation, so would people who are not part of the Voting Age Population be tax exempt?
True, so the Democratic House should use its Article I, §4 power to “at any time by law make or alter such [state] regulations” and introduce legislation to mandate that states use total population.
What the heck, these Rs aren’t doing any real governance anyways. They have lots of time for destruction and ratfukking. It’s easy when you know how! Your voters don’t care if you make good legislation, have good plans for the country, or are effective at running the place properly, lawfully, and with good faith. Your voters want to see machetes and torches and bulldozers. A whole new way to grade your elected representative. How effective was he/she at HURTING or DAMAGING the 60% of the country which you hate?
I wonder how many lawful immigrants are on track to be sworn in as citizens between now and 2021?

This is exactly their play all along.
Count everyone in the census. So states like Texas get all the assigned congressional districts based 9n total population including documented and undocumented immigrants.
Than give the states the ability to set state districts based on Voting age citizens.
This play will ensure Republican State legislatures which will then draw Federal congressional districts to maximize the Republican house gains. It will do so with the Roberts 5’s full support.

So does this mean Democratic States can use the same info to ‘enhance’ their districts to Democratic advantage also? If not, why not?
