NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge in New York ruled Saturday that Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf assumed his position unlawfully, a determination that invalidated Wolf’s suspension of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which shields young people from deportation.
What a time for one of these bullshit hires to get called out.
OT: Just read Josh’s column on Trump shifting gears. I think Josh is seeing the right phenomenon, but he ignores the idea that Trump isn’t positioning himself for actual legitimizing and an actual reelection run. He just knows that if he can be seen as the apparent 2024 candidate, it makes it MUCH harder for the DOJ, SDNY, IRS, etc. to pursue investigations as they can scream political persecution. Hopefully investigators decide they don’t give a fuck, but I think that’s the play.
“DHS failed to follow the order of succession as it was lawfully designated,” U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis wrote. “Therefore, the actions taken by purported Acting Secretaries, who were not properly in their roles according to the lawful order of succession, were taken without legal authority.”
Excellent! Another precedent set binding upon the Biden administration.
Since Chad has been illegal since Nov 2019, is there any way to claw back the pay that increase that which his illegal promotion gave him?
(you know me it’s all about the benjamins)
In August, the Government Accountability Office, a bipartisan congressional watchdog, said Wolf and his acting deputy, Ken Cuccinelli, were improperly serving and ineligible to run the agency under the Vacancies Reform Act. The two have been at the forefront of administration initiatives on immigration and law enforcement.
Cuccinelli. He’s the one I want to see humiliated.
I don’t for a second think he thought of it. It just might be the suggestion that Trump latched on to in the bargaining phase so he doesn’t have to reach acceptance.
Josh said he’s winning at keeping control of the GOP. Given the paltry amount (zero or near to it) of party notables (won’t call them leaders) outright congratulating Biden, and the preponderance of them sticking with language about “whoever wins this election”, I would agree with Josh. He still has the GOP firmly in his grasp.
WHY do so many of these yahoos in the Trump Administration think the laws don’t apply to them…or do they just think screwing with people for as long as them can is a ‘win’?
Trump has overplayed the, “I’m President, so I’m immune” card so much, any non-corrupt DoJ should be extra motivated to take him down in the next four years, since the motherfucker might actually win in '24.
