The federal judge, assigned to oversee Jack Smith’s criminal case against former President Donald Trump over his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, is getting increased security.

Trump[:] “There is no way I can get a fair trial with the judge ‘assigned’ to the ridiculous freedom of speech/fair elections case.”

freedom of speech/fair elections case
Minimization and misstatement, much?
Kinda like the way Donnie reconceptualized the purloined docs case as a, “document storage dispute.”

The difference between now and Nixon
I don’t recall hundreds of people needing to get their security increased because of Watergate - perhaps it has something to do with the integrity of the Republican party back then. You can be an asshole without being a lying autocrat and worshipping a complete shit stain of a president. Trump makes Nixon look downright honorable. After all, Nixon did actually win the election “by a lot” - but he still stepped down when his crimes were exposed. Trump would rather destroy the country than admit he lost.

I don’t think Republicans are any worse since Nixon. I think that the more they were absorbed by the right wing media bubble the more they felt comfortable with saying the quiet parts out loud.

Trump has signaled online that he wants to ask the judge to recuse himself from the case…

If only it were that easy.

If someone so much as scribbles ‘ROMANI ITE DOMUM’ in chalk on the sidewalk in front of her house, Trump should be up on (more) criminal conspiracy charges.

Hey Trump, If you come after us, we’re coming after your sorry ass!

He immediately violated the pretrial bail conditions. The question now is what will the judge do about it. Nothing, is my guess. We’ll see.

Can we consider this an Asspirational ask? Asking for a friend…

Yes. Trump’s utter lack of restraint found fertile ground.

He tired and continues to try to come after U.S.

We need to jail his ‘sorry (fat) ass.’

“Ensuring that judges can rule independently and free from harm or intimidation is paramount to the rule of law, and a fundamental mission of the USMS,”

I wish there was the same will to ensure that judges can’t accept ‘gifts’, or in layman’s terms ‘bribes’ so they too could uphold the rule of law - or at least justice.

That was also the time of snail mail, old telephones, and pigeons for correspondence. And people had guns for hunting or an old gun collection for historical purposes. No social media and weapons of mass destruction. Ahhh, the good old days. :relieved:

DEESantis falls further. Those private planes are expensive.

Ink was expensive then. Now everyone’s a publisher and nothing means anything.

I’m guessing Judge Cannon doesn’t need any unusual protection…

Someone is making this necessary IMHO someone should have to pay for it.

I’ve seen a couple of videos posted on Twitter showing Ron’s somewhat bizarre affectation when interacting with the public. So I have questions:
Were his bizarre affectations visible when he ran for Congress, or FL Governor?
Did he even interact with the public during those campaigns?
Most of the video that I’ve seen posted is glitchy, so…

But January 6 was just peaceful tourists exploring the People’s house.
