Teachers are in the second main wave (Phase 1B) planned here in NJ, right behind front line healthcare workers and nursing home residents.
I am not sure how the distribution plan affects your wife. As for school personnel like those you describe in your first question, they are definitely included in the 1B group.
If you look at the CDC report they figure that allowing for overlap there are about 81 million in the co-morbidities group. The difficulty will come from determining who actually belongs in that group. Who will make those decisions–Doctors? Pharmacists? Honor system?

Not sure why there’s so much criticism of the prioritization:
- Those most exposed through services to their communities (front-line workers)
- Those most at risk of dying prematurely from it (65+)
- Those next most at risk of dying prematurely from it (co-morbidities)
- Everyone else
Why is that so awful?

I’m with you. I also don’t get why there is quite so much suspicion about distribution. I know it’s Trump but he’s totally disengaged from all of this.

Last week the prioritization had young (20-40) healthy folks going head of middleaged and near-retirement (41-65) folks, because the latter are more likely to adhere to virus prevention protocols. No one liked the idea of rewarding the poor conduct of the younger folks, even if it makes logical sense for wiping out the virus.
Let see, bungle the numbers (handing out system test data instead of real data), bungle the purchasing (turned down a pfizer 100 million dose offer), bungle the funding of the distribution (just ask the states), a past history of requisitioning medical supplies at gunpoint from their lawful purchasers…
the only reason to think they aren’t grifting on the distribution is that they haven’t figured out how.
