Say Trump/McConnell is saying.

“The rapid research, development, trials and eventual distribution of a Covid-19 vaccine is emblematic of President Trump’s highest priority: the health and safety of the American people,” White House spokesperson Judd Deere said in a statement. “It has nothing to do with politics.”

Yeh, right, we all believe that. Sure, anything you say. You all have never done anything because of politics, like slow walk testing because it would hurt blue state governors or reopen too quickly or turn mask wearing into something political. Not you guys. Never Trump.

From Wikipedia about this guy:

Deere, who is openly gay, has defended Donald Trump and Mike Pence amid criticisms that the Trump Administration is anti-LGBTQ.

Because of course that’s not political either. Seems like Judd Deere will say anything if it pleases the boss. There is no such thing as true public service in a tRump maladministration. Everything is done for an audience of one but unfortunately its at taxpayer expense. The galling thing is we the people pay these assholes and not one of them will stand up to passing a bill to give the taxpayer a financial break during this pandemic with that money.

If it can be corruptly fucked up by Republicans, it will be corruptly fucked up by Republicans. There’s a Murphy’s Law in there somewhere.

Can Louis Gohmert get an advance dose?
By the way, is there a recent update on his condition?

In April 1955 more than 200 000 children in five Western and mid-Western USA states received a polio vaccine in which the process of inactivating the live virus proved to be defective. Within days there were reports of paralysis and within a month the first mass vaccination programme against polio had to be abandoned. Subsequent investigations revealed that the vaccine, manufactured by the California-based family firm of Cutter Laboratories, had caused 40 000 cases of polio, leaving 200 children with varying degrees of paralysis and killing 10.

Offit offers a balanced judgement on both the Cutter incident and on the Salk and Sabin vaccines. Reviewing failures in the manufacturing and inspection processes, he exonerates Salk from blame and concludes that `the federal government, through its vaccine regulatory agency… was in the best position to avoid the Cutter tragedy’. Three larger companies produced safe polio vaccines according to Salk’s protocol for inactivating the virus with formaldehyde. The lack of experience and expertise at Cutter Laboratories, undetected by the inspectors, caused the disaster.

I’m reading on a couple of international websites where some other countries (most notably, Australia) are having some success in developing a vaccine. We can be certain that, if successful, we’ll never see it here in the States (at least not until January). Trump won’t be able to corner the market on these, so no, we won’t see anything for quite a while.

Have seen nothing in the press.

Which makes me think that he’s symptomatic – otherwise they’d be making a big deal about “hey, look, Ma, no symptoms!!”.

He’ll lose that one too. No worries - just a waste of time. The courts are not going to overrule something that’s been in place for 150 years.

What happens if the vaccine turns out to be a Thalidomide type redux nightmare? Will it be tested on men, women (both pregnant and not) and children? There’s a reason these controlled testing stages take time. Expanded testing on vulnerable populations are included and necessary to assure safety, efficacy and reliability over time.
