FBI, DOJ Hold First Press Briefing To Date On Capitol Insurrection

Yeah, nearly a week later.

Unless they announce they’re arresting Trump in Texas at his non-rally, I don’t need to hear anything they have to say. They’ve been given their script from Trump and they will follow it to the letter.

In the meantime, Leahy is demanding that Hawley and Cruz are removed from the Senate Judiciary Committee while the federal officials investigate the storming of the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob last week.

Senior Democrat says Hawley, Cruz should step down from Judiciary | TheHill

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) plans to introduce legislation Tuesday to impose a $1,000 fine on members who refuse to wear masks while in the U.S. Capitol complex.

And furthermore:

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) told MSNBC that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) “screamed” at an officer for not doing “enough” to protect senators as the U.S. Capitol was being breached last week.

Said Brown: “I heard when the 75 senators were confined in a room with about 75 staff people, Lindsey Graham with his mask off started screaming at one of the officers — I think it was one of the captains — saying, ‘How come you didn’t protect us? It’s doing your job.’”

Yeah, Lindsey - they protected your ass when you should’ve been among the rabble like a good Trump supporter that you are.

If there are any competent people left in either organization and they’re in charge- an honest concern- then this will be their chance to send a message that:

A. We’re ready this time.
B. We’re expected to knock some heads, which we’re good at.
C. And we’re going to prosecute you afterwards.

Exactly. Unless they’re pursuing Trump, and using the terms “insurrection,” “terrorism,” “violence” and the like to describe all of the Trumpers, then this press conference is pointless and useless. I sure as hell don’t want to hear mealy-mouthed waffling about “protests” and “grievances.”

I’ll say it again: another day, another KKKlownshow.

I will be shocked if this impending circus of excuse-making and coverup propaganda doesn’t infuriate me.

“meta” site question here: Is there some articulated official reason for the absence of discussion threads on editorial blog posts? It’s an odd omission.

It’s like a sermon at church. Responsible comment is not invited, but printed copies are available. It’s not an interactive thing.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff are reportedly preparing to issue a message to the entire military, CNN reports, reiterating the purpose of the country’s armed forces: to support and defend the Constitution

How about if the message includes this in 20 point type.

A person who is found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct.

This is totally normal and not at all alarming. (stifled scream)

Don’t seem to remember them doing anything similar in recent years. Somebody smells something.
