FBI and DOJ officials will be holding a briefing at 3 p.m., the first press conference given by any federal agency since the Jan. 6 insurrection attempt at the U.S. Capitol.
Unless they announce theyâre arresting Trump in Texas at his non-rally, I donât need to hear anything they have to say. Theyâve been given their script from Trump and they will follow it to the letter.
In the meantime, Leahy is demanding that Hawley and Cruz are removed from the Senate Judiciary Committee while the federal officials investigate the storming of the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob last week.
Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) plans to introduce legislation Tuesday to impose a $1,000 fine on members who refuse to wear masks while in the U.S. Capitol complex.
And furthermore:
Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) told MSNBC that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) âscreamedâ at an officer for not doing âenoughâ to protect senators as the U.S. Capitol was being breached last week.
Said Brown: âI heard when the 75 senators were confined in a room with about 75 staff people, Lindsey Graham with his mask off started screaming at one of the officers â I think it was one of the captains â saying, âHow come you didnât protect us? Itâs doing your job.ââ
Yeah, Lindsey - they protected your ass when you shouldâve been among the rabble like a good Trump supporter that you are.
If there are any competent people left in either organization and theyâre in charge- an honest concern- then this will be their chance to send a message that:
A. Weâre ready this time.
B. Weâre expected to knock some heads, which weâre good at.
C. And weâre going to prosecute you afterwards.
Exactly. Unless theyâre pursuing Trump, and using the terms âinsurrection,â âterrorism,â âviolenceâ and the like to describe all of the Trumpers, then this press conference is pointless and useless. I sure as hell donât want to hear mealy-mouthed waffling about âprotestsâ and âgrievances.â
âmetaâ site question here: Is there some articulated official reason for the absence of discussion threads on editorial blog posts? Itâs an odd omission.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff are reportedly preparing to issue a message to the entire military, CNN reports, reiterating the purpose of the countryâs armed forces: to support and defend the Constitution
How about if the message includes this in 20 point type.
A person who is found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff are reportedly preparing to issue a message to the entire military, CNN reports, reiterating the purpose of the countryâs armed forces: to support and defend the Constitution, and also to reject extremism.
This is totally normal and not at all alarming. (stifled scream)
