The FBI director on Wednesday danced around a question about whether the President Donald Trump or anyone from his administration had sought investigations from the Bureau as retaliation over Trump’s impeachment.
These days when one of the admin types who can still navigate the world of norms refuses to answer this way, I assume it’s a confirmation of the worst, not even an effort to avoid the question.
Why the hell doesn’t Nadler cite him for contempt, for being unresponsive to a House inquiry? Wray may as well be replying to Nadler “Why yes, that is a handsome zebra”. Cite his ass and detain him until he gives a proper answer. Spineless twits.
“Has the president or anyone at the White House ever asked or suggested you open an investigation into anyone?” she asked.
“I’m trying to grapple with the word ‘suggest.’ I mean, there have been discussions of matters out there that… they have not asked me to open an investigation but…”
“Perhaps they’ve suggested?” Then, as Barr hesitated, she followed up, “Hinted?” “Inferred?”
This was my post yesterday in response to @schmed and @dont’s posts.
This was from Harris questioning Barr about Mueller’s investigation. Why does this question keep happening?
After going down memory lane with the Harris/Barr questioning the only other “witness before Congress” moment in this Trump maladministration is the question that IMHO stands close to the Harris/Barr is the Franken/Sessions. I mean you have to love it when the question Franken asked is not the question Sessions heard and tried to dance around, but failed.
So the question becomes did he choose his words carefully to avoid out and out lying, or is he just an idiot trying to sound clever as he blatantly lies? Those are the most generous interpretations I can think of.
