Seems like fairly standard fodder for the regular FBI bulletin. I would be bothered if this caution had not been mentioned. There have been enough events, and the level of violence is escalating. Chatter in Twitter about continued violence and “retribution” persists.

Trump has been ramping up violent rhetoric since the beginning. These same people will have a difficult time when Trump loses.
Our politics has been undermined over the last 50 years by a series of laws and deregulation that has allowed the minority in this country to remain in power.
Many parts of the country are under media monopolies wholly owned by evangelical Christians that use cult tactics to recruit and are a presence in most schools in rural areas.
The GOP and their wholly owned Supreme Court have made all this possible. The first step was allowing evangelicals into government (Carter), the second was destroying the public sector unions (Reagan), the third was enabling propaganda media (Reagan), and the fourth was unlimited money in politics (response to Obama).
There has been a 50-year sellout of the Right to the church. Every 13th street corner in America has an entity claiming to speak for the creator of the entire universe, and that creator demands a vote for the GOP.
We didn’t let this happen. This is a hostile takeover by the states that fail every year but have churches that have more and more money.

“The FBI and DHS remain concerned about the potential for follow-on or retaliatory acts of violence following this attack, particularly given that individuals in some online communities have threatened, encouraged, or referenced acts of violence in response to the attempted assassination,” the bulletin reads, according to Politico, which obtained a copy of the bulletin.
Retaliatory acts against whom, Messrs FBI and DHS?
No specific targets are mentioned, but the four-page bulletin notes that extremists have conducted or plotted attacks against “perceived political or ideological opponents,” in the past, the DHS and FBI said.
And, once again, they fail to name whom should be expecting these ‘retaliatory acts’.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Politico article if they didn’t bothsides the violence:
Threats across the political spectrum have proliferated. Supporters of Trump sent death threats and envelopes full of white powder to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose office led the hush money prosecution against the former president. Others “swatted” Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows after she found Trump to be ineligible to appear on the state’s 2024 primary ballot.
Because I’m sure it was Democrats who sent death threats to Bragg and swatted Bellows.

Wisconsin is an open carry state. Guns are banned inside the GOP convention center, but anyone can walk around outside the building or anywhere else in the city with an AR-15 slung over their shoulder, or a Glock in a holster.
There is a designated area for anti-GOP protesters in Milwaukee near the convention center. There had better be some serious police presence there, to prevent some MAGAt asserting their Second Amendment rights.

I don’t think it has been established that the shooting was political. In fact, I think the here at TPM the belief is that the shooter was more like a “school shooter” than a political actor. The IEDs would seem to add credence to that. I think the shooter would have been there if Biden were speaking too. All he wanted was to “go out in a blaze of glory”.
The other big story here is the utter incompetence of the Secret Service and local police. CNN is currently reporting that there was actually a sniper team inside the building! They were on the 2nd floor and the shooter was on the roof. Comical if not so serious.

Maybe the FBI and DHS and GQP and others in TCF’s mob could try something new for them: FIGHT TO BAN ALL AR-15 type weapons for civilians and sport hunders to buy or carry in public. That might be a progressive thing to do – you know, UNITY.

FBI director Wray has been warning about foreign and domestic terrorist threats since Jan. 6 at the very least. This article is from Dec. 2023 where he also expressed concerns about hate crimes.

The AR-15 is designed for killing humans. Ask any Republican gun nut about the ballistic properties and design of the .223 round the gun uses. Absolutely useless for hunting, and also useless for home protection.
