Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the leading health experts on the White House’s COVID-19 task force, rejected on Tuesday the idea of going to President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma this weekend amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Not only does the Tulsa rally risk becoming a giant cluster, but just imagine all the pent-up rage and frustration that will be displayed. Tulsa will be a ‘rally for the ages’.
And you just know damned well that even if the MAGAts wear the required mask to get in, there will be an inevitable mass unmasking, then the screaming, shouting and speaking in tongues will begin.
Two weeks later it will confirm everything the experts and experience tell us.
Anybody running book on how many deaths will be directly attributable to this steaming mess?
Why on earth would he go to a Trump rally, except to be chained in the pillory alongside some randomly-selected journalists?
I recently traveled from LA via London to Finland. Masking was required throughout the journey, including at all times on the plane. LAX and Heathrow were basically deserted, with almost all shops closed and very few flights. When I got to Finland, which has very low covid numbers, the most striking difference in behavior was the general lack of masking. It may be that Finns are inherently good at social distancing and routine hygiene.

Yes, Tulsa will be regretting this in 2 weeks. Tulsa is 4 hours from Kansas City, Little Rock, and Springfield. It’s 90 minutes from Oklahoma City and 2.5 hours from Wichita. If these cities don’t suffer from attendees bringing virus back I’ll be genuinely surprised. Cuz there are a lot of dickheads in these cities that will be going to this fucking MAGA gangbang even if they don’t get into the rally.
Fauci’s comments to The Daily Beast include this truism:
“Outside is better than inside, no crowd is better than crowd, and crowd is better than big crowd.”
Words to live by, but no one will ever convince Donald Trump of this.
I think we can do the math. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am assuming that at least 3% of the attendees will become infected and around 10% of those will become seriously ill. So, at 19,000 attendees, that works out to 57 people. Assuming that half of those people don’t make it, that is about 28 deaths. A small price to pay to give Mr. Trump valuable campaign footage…
