Dr. Anthony Fauci on Wednesday warned the public against letting their guard down on COVID-19, despite President Trump’s return to the campaign trail as the country records more than 215,000 fatalities from the pandemic thus far.
Too late Dr Fauci, trump is off holding rallies and infecting as many people as possible.
Sad but true. And spokespeople out of the White House are boldly saying herd immunity is the way to go to get this behind us.
Un.be.lievable.
Fauci was being pretty careful in the interview, trying to give honest information without saying that Trump is lying, but if you read through the lines it was clear that Trump is putting out disinformation. Good on him for keeping it honest, we still need government officials doing that in the face of Trump’s attempts to overwhelm the system and twist it to his own ends.
Rachel Maddow shares reporting by the Washington Post that a Trump administration official has admitted that the Trump policy for dealing with coronavirus is tantamount to herd immunity, even as experts deride it as “fringe” and “dangerous,” and the U.S. appears to be in the grips of a second wave of infections. Aired on 10/13/2020.
Trump most likely is hopped up on drugs to keep him going. The drugs he was given are only given in sever cases. He probably still has COVID pneumonia being kept under control with Dexamethasone. I posted this on twitter a few days ago. tRump is alive thanks to socialized medicine at the expense of us.
The infection rate in Pennsylvania has soared since the weather cooled. It’s around three or four times what it was when the lockdown ended. Just tonight my sister and I showed our family home to a potential buyer and then got some takeout Thai food for dinner. The restaurant owner asked if she were voting. She didn’t say why but obviously she wants people sitting down to meals in the booths and at the tables like they used to. My sister said her doctor asked about voting too. That seems even more obvious. People want a rational effort to contain and end the pandemic. They see Joe as the only path forward.
Same here in Umatilla County, Oregon. We’re back on the state watch list because suddenly, there are all kinds of cases for which contact tracers can’t account for the origins. We’ve got serious community spread happening. I find it interesting that the WH is all for “herd immunity” now…my doctor estimates the price of that to be 3-5 million deaths.
Yeah, it’s so disappointing that we can’t get this under control, that people just won’t take it seriously enough to avoid doing anything that might spread the disease. I mean, we all have to do things to survive, like get food or shop for things, but you can do it with a lower risk, and stay home or in the outdoors otherwise. There are just too many people who are trying to live a normal life right now, and causing more spread, when we’d get back to normal faster if everyone would stay home or only do safe things for two months. It would also take government support…other countries did that, helped their population to float through, and they are recovering better.
It’s not going to change immediately when Biden takes over either, all the Republican leaders will resist going along with medical directives in their states, and in Congress they will try to block any stimulus funding. We really need the Senate to have a hope of saving the economy, because McConnell and company are already getting ready to do austerity again. That will put us in a huge hole, one they want to use to win in 2022…if we have the Senate then there is less chance, especially if the filibuster dies and Democrats pass programs that help people and grow the economy.
It’s really all on the line in three weeks…if Democrats don’t take over we’ll have another two years of this mess, at least, and I don’t think the nation will survive much more of Republicans trying to tear it apart.
Our hospitals are filling up, but that’s because people from outside St. Louis County are being transferred in. I can tell something is going on by the amount of emergency vehicle sirens I can hear.
I wish people would directly challenge Trump on his healthcare plan. And when he deflects, challenge him again and again and again. I would like to see the reporters all fall back on saying “so…essentially you have no plan!”
