Fauci Shrugs Off Threats: ‘I’ve Chosen This Life’

WASHINGTON (AP) — Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease expert, owns up to doing some not-so-smart things as he helps lead the White House effort to stem the spread of the new coronavirus. Things like forgetting to eat and not getting enough sleep.

Sad.

What else can be said? He was never threatened before he met #ETTD.

Far extreme right-wing nut-jobs want to kill the man who is trying to save their lives. Makes sense in a mentally-ill kinda way…

Maybe they think only those to the left of the far-right perspective are going to die from COVID-19. It’s strange to think that a virus selects on political beliefs, but I guess that’s mental illness. Either that or they just want everyone to die and think they are personally immune.

“Some have accused Fauci of playing up the threat of COVID-19, while others have pointed to emails in which he praised Democrat Hillary Clinton. Still others have dismissed him as a “deep state” operative because of his 36-year leadership of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases”.

Mrs Awiztherewas was wondering this morning how this would have been handled by HRC with all of her public health background and foreign policy experience. What a world…

OT:

Sound familiar?

Navy commander expected to be relieved of duty for leaking memo on Covid-19 outbreak on ship

From CNN’s Ryan Browne

The commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt who in a memo warned Navy leadership that more action was needed for the Covid-19 outbreak on the ship is expected to be relieved of duty for being suspected of leaking the memo, a defense official tells CNN

Capt. Brett Crozier wrote in the memo, “We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset — our Sailors,” Capt. Brett Crozier wrote in a memo to the Navy’s Pacific Fleet, three US defense officials have confirmed to CNN.

Also OT, sort of:
My facility is out of masks now. We’re using fabric masks that local churches are making.
WTactualF? This isn’t Haiti.
Or maybe it is. Haiti under Papa Doc.

I can just sense the internal response of the Admiralty due to political pressure from above:

“Capt. Brett Crozier, through allegedly leaking this memo, has placed a smudge on the shiny faux-gold brass veneer of the performance of the Commander-in-Chief, and as such must be keel-hauled beneath the USS Theodore Roosevelt at the earliest opportunity in order to maintain proper naval discipline.”

Save me from the flock of ignoramuses running my country through the ground and into the magma.

You don’t find yourself in command of the Stick by falling upward. This sounds like a quintessentially Trumpian move.

When people are faced with evidence that they’re wrong and that their entire worldview is false — including the belief that Trump is a great leader — they tend to dig in deeper, spinning out ever more elaborate rationalizations meant to explain that they were right all along and that reality-based people who disagree have sinister motives.

To make it worse, these conspiracy theorists have been constantly empowered and enabled by Trump, who is a conspiracy theorist himself

Threats to Dr. Fauci is NOT the first time Trump zealot supporters would resort to threats and violence…MAGA bombers, MAGA Mass Shooters, White supremacists planning to use Covid as bioweapon targeting policemen and Jews…on and on.

So it is a problem BUT this problem is exacerbated by the Hear/See/Speak NO Evil approach by Trump because he likes violence! He encourages stochastic terrorism to take out his perceived enemies and detractors because he has deniability!

Just like Covid, Trump minimizes the threat to Dr. Fauci’s life…its a BAD Pattern!

But Trump jokingly chimed in that he was not overly concerned about the doctor’s safety.

“He doesn’t need security,” Trump said. “Everybody loves him. Besides, they’d be in big trouble if they ever attacked.”

I think you’re forgetting that Hilary gave speeches to Wall Street conferences for money, which no Republican has ever done.

Yup. This is a human psychology problem and it’s an error to think it can not and does not crop up elsewhere.

Well, his trying to “save lives” is incidental at best and may even amount to interfering in God’s plan.

But what really matters is that they can perceive, even if dimly, that he is embarrassing Trump, their (secular or not-so-secular) savior.

“I’ve chosen this life."

Wow, what an answer. We’re so desperate for truth tellers.
