Because it’s just fine to have a president lying to the public during an emergency.

Fauci is saying what he needs to say in order to stay relevant - I have no problem with that.

Fauci is trying to navigate between the Scylla of being a total toady and the Charybdis of being fired. Many people before him have tried and none succeeded.

Hope Layperson?

Is that who’s pressing Trump’s pants now?

We need Key and Peele to come back and do an anger translator for Fauci. “Hope layperson” means dumb, ignorant motherfucker.

Thank you Dr Fauci. We all realize what a difficult to impossible task it is to deal with this president, but we realize you are putting the greater good first.

Wonder what the odds are in Vegas before he resigns ? With no sports on TV you know they have to wager on something.

Dr. Fauci is a real doctor. Dr. Don is not a real doctor and plays an awful one on TV.

He’s enabling Trump’s false hope approach, and I do have a problem with that.

The media needs to stop baiting Fauci for headlines. Imagine what this would be like without Fauci if Trump cans him. I think it would be disastrous.

Unlike Trump and his mob, Fauci is dedicated to public service. That’s why he even puts up with bullshit questions like this from the media - he values factual communication with the public. But Trump will sack his ass if interviews bring him too close to telling the truth about Trump (which will have no positive effect). Media can help us all by thinking up questions in Fauci’s wheelhouse, where Fauci’s knowledge and judgment will have a positive effect. Otherwise they’re courting disaster.

Media can fact-and-opinion-check with their in-house docs & public officials. We don’t need to encourage them to use Fauci to get at Trump EVEN if it’s because Trump is spewing very harmful disinformation.

As the article mentions the drug is not used on it’s own. It is used along with Azithromycin, which is a macrolide antibiotic. Antibiotics don’t work on viruses. Also, use of Azithromycin has been associated with arrhythmia. These drugs have not been studied for the intended application or in combination.

Moreover, Laura Ingraham and other right wing media outlets, like The Right Scoop, have hopped on this. Ingraham and the Right Scoop is the very last place anyone should be looking for medical or scientific guidance. Yes, they are attempting to offer false hope. As someone who lived through the AIDS crisis of the 80s and 90s I can go on and on about the quackery, snake oil, and false hope PWAs were sold. Many still died.

Bottom line: people who are not doctors or scientists, including the president, have no business dispensing medical or scientific advice to desperate people. It’s dangerous and people can die.

He is the President of the United States, not a lay person. He doesn’t have that luxury.

Not nearly the problem you’ll have if he dismisses Fauci.
