Fauci Pushes Back Against Trump After POTUS Calls Him An ‘Alarmist’: ‘I’m A Realist’

Speaking of realists…

““So that’s an unfair description? You’re with dealing with reality, as you would like to say?” Shriver asked.

"I mean, do you have proof of your reality, If that’s what we should call it? Do you have links to your reality? For our viewers, some experts do disagree with Dr. Fauci’s characterization of this situation as “reality”.

“But then again, others have different opinions.”

Who can say, really? There are two sides to every epidemic.

This is great, Fauci is getting away with thumbing his nose at Trump. Trump is flailing around like a fish out of water. I can’t wait for his press briefing at 5 today, it should be a classic. Actually, I am not going to actually watch it but I will read the blow-by-blow account.

Remember Dr Don took the Hypocritical Oath.

Right, we could even debate whether someone is really dead from COVID-19 or not–they might still be alive in a parallel universe where there was a POTUS who did something to control the pandemic.

I’d say he does not want to eat the associated cost as many others have.

This is a new disease and a pandemic. Of course thoughts may change as the medical and scientific communities learn more about covid-19. Recommendations will also change as to what is best practice, based on data and experience. As we learn more, we alter our previous approaches owing to advances in our understanding of the different aspects of the disease. Any intelligent individual ought to change their initial thoughts of a disorder when new observations suggest the change, which then leads to new or modified treatments that show improved patient outcomes. It’s called the scientific method based on causality. This is what works.

If you show me an individual who has not allowed his thinking to change based on the identification and understanding of facts (NOT political wishes) and testable treatment changes that help (this does NOT involve drinking bleach), I will show you a person who should not be in charge.

Of course Dr. Fauci’s statements have evolved as more is learned about covid-19 - it’s the reason he is a true leader. He also is trying to thread a needle, as dull as the other end may be. President Trump and his administrative enablers need to realize it’s not about them, but the people they represent, which should be all US citizens.

But that’s another story…such as where is the Republican Party that’s MIA. Actually, that’s unfair, they haven’t shown any action at all, and tens of thousands of US citizens have died as a direct result of their wishing the problem away.

Of course, Donnie would prefer if Fauci was a bit of a patsy, a nice go-along-to-get-along kinda guy.
Fortunately for the rest of us, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Hopefully, if Donnie pursues this fight, it will pull our nation’s shared image of him down into the sewer, where it belongs. For me, witnessing his ‘at last, have you no decency’ moment would be deeply satisfying. (ed.)

Florida is still having 10K+ new cases a day, with no sign of letup. It is also making inroads into The Villages, which will put a lot of seniors in the hospital. DisneyWorld is open and my guess is that the numbers in FL will continue to worsen and it will serve as a major source of new infections all over the country. Trump has to want the convention in the worst way and they will hold something, regardless of its impact on FL and the rest of the country.

Yes. When he’s trying to convince the bomb that it doesn’t really know reality, and that it’s sensory apparatus can be considered unreliable.

What? he’s talked to others after only these some years now… and wants to protect the county budget… surely he’s up for re-election???

We’ll have to wait until this crisis is over to see if Fauci’s low key approach has been working. Even behind the scenes, he doesn’t seem to be pounding the table, or Trump’s desk, to explain the realities here. Perhaps he’d be fired for that or for coming out in public and saying that the health experts should be in charge, instead of taking a back seat.

To those who pay attention, sure, Fauci’s making sense and showing how he disagrees with the Trump party line(s). But Trump’s Fox News acolytes, led by Hannity, Ingraham, and Carlson, will continue their disastrous misdirection, and I fear their viewers, who proudly watch only that one channel, won’t get it unless Fauci is more forthright and stops saying things about other opinions, etc.

Does anyone get the feeling that even if COVID-19 kills off one of his grandkids, children, or siblings he still wouldn’t get a shit?

It’s an epic pandemic, with a response led by the Greatest Virus Fighter the World has ever seen. Nobody does an epic pandemic like Trump.

Isn’t it kind of like Fauci’s job to sound the alarm with a health crisis like this in our midst??
